redthirst is redthirst, fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse. He was the leader of the Fires of Salvation, the only clan I'm aware of to get modded off the forums so hard they made their own forums.
Degenerate? Sure. Loudmouth? You bet. Law abiding? No ****ing way.
Will you be assuming your previous role as the thread enforcer/bouncer? I'm excited to watch the shenanigans.
I doubt it'll be necessary since people can start their own threads about Vexing-Volley or why Thunderous Wrath is amazing and I'll just stay out of there.
Of course, if someone decides to start a thread like "I just built RDW last night and went 1-3 at my FNM so it sucks and y'all are dumb to play it" then I'll probably make an appearance.
I guess we'll see. Don't worry, though, I'll always be the opposite of Black and Mild... White and Abrasive.

I'm undecided. There aren't many decks online that I need bonfire for; so the reliability and flexibility of devil's play has been more useful so far. Running Bonfire certainly isn't incorrect ~ I just don't think enough decks lose to it at the moment.

I see. In the other thread we left off at the geist of saint traft (ha G.O.S.T first Koth now this) was a problem. I'm not thinking I need it in the main but I really don't want to scoop to Gost, cause U/W/x aggro thats a thing.
So thats what I was mulling, i remeber reading your talk of Bonfire and thought that you might have been maindecking it with that deck in mind.
It is definitely a consideration. Bonfire is also decent against Jund. What's holding me back is that it feels like ~40% of my games are against control decks and it basically is a do nothing there. It also does very little against reanimator ~ the card is close though, because when it's good, it's absurdly good.

I just hate having a Bonfire in your opening hand it in the first two draws of the game. It's pretty much useless then. I actually prefer Mizzium Mortars instead. It's effectively the same mana for one less damage across the board but without the player damage, and I can do four damage targeted for two mana by turn two.
GoST - I deal with Giest of Saint Traft normally with Ash Zealot. If it is early just leaving her out to block will cause many opponents to not attack due to fear of losing him. If I am running a RakDW list then later I will be swinging over GoST's head with Aristocrat or Thundermaw.
Anything + Stonewright can block GoST and force a trade. In general GoST doesn't kill me unless I am completely outclassed.
VEXING DEVIL IS SO GOOD!! Y U NO PLAY HEM! UR AL DUMB AND MY OPUININ IS FACTT!
But seriously...GoST is a beast and a bonfire needs at least turn 5 to hit (R + 2 + 2). Theres a lot of subpar answers but I think the only one that is semi resonable for turn 4 is Magmaquake as its useful later in the game as well unlike Rolling Termblor which isnt that good on turn 7. Ive been exprimenting with it and a magma for 3 on turn 5 has been pretty useful on taking down GoST > Jace/Tayimo.
Problem is how to deal with GoST after he goes to the air. Turn 6 is far too long to get pounded on.
Maybe we are looking at this wrong? Maybe its not GoST that the true problem, but that damn recurring token. Thoughts?
To be honest I find the best way to deal with Geist of Saint Traft is with creatures. Keep one back to block and swing with another. Make sure whatever you swing with will trade and that whatever you block with will trade. If you can put a stonewright on both then you can cope with shenanigans affecting your attacking power.
Most of our decks are running ~25 creatures, of them only Stromkirk Noble can't trade for a GoST without getting pumped. Stonewright I give a pass too since if you have him and any creature you can manage it.
25> N board wipes. Realistically we can run maybe 2-3 wrath like effects, maybe 6 if we warp the deck around it. But creatures >>> spells in answering hexproof.
Every GosT deck I've played against online has tossed a Spectral Flight on him, which negates my KoI and Ash Zealot.
Tribute is fantastic in this case, since I can bait him into loading up enchantments on his geist while I swing past him.
+1 Thats the thing I mentioned before Spectral flight and the b/r having tribute access. I was thinking though. . . what IS the nut draw in that deck?
Turn 3 Gost
Turn 4 Spectral flight swing for 8
Is really the main thing I'm concered with vs them. AFTER turn 3 We can fight back. . . Aristocrats and or Kites can beat OR trade as we have reach. I guess it cycles then back to what Zemanjanski said then.
Its can get annoying but sometimes competitive decks ARE going to get 'the fix", and you have to have the solution right then or bust. Not worth stressing the deck over unless it becomes the most popular deck. I suppse.
Has anyone seen its showing on MTGO?
I'd probably warp my mana base to support gatekeeper of malakir if it was legal >_>.
Luckily GoST usually isn't a problem since they rarely nut draw. Often I find that you can just race his ***** ass. The problem is when your opponent uses azorius charm to gain life.
LP, I'm checking your article out as well. Behind all of your swag is the brain of one of the most intelligent Magic players I've ever known. I guess that's one more thing for you to add to the wall of ego that is your Sally sig.
I can go with that. LK, you are the Mace Windu of red mages...cool, tempered logic in deliberation, but capable of just flat kicking tail when the situation warrants it.
I think that it's pretty equal between Dos Rakis (RB Aggro) and Sledgehammer (both Mono Red and RB). Dos Rakis is just faster/better but less resillent Zombies (resillency isn't that needed now) while Sledgehammer just takes completely different approach of going big (you play with Thundermaw Hellkites, Devil's Play to get term "reach" into new level of slamming someone for 10 every turn).
You need to sleeve up the decks either in-person or online and test them out for yourself to really know which is better for you. There are 200+ pages of discussion of the three main styles for these decks, so the recent lists are pretty optimal within their realm of proficiency. Thus, it really boils down to which agrees with your playstyle the best to know which will lend you the most success in a tournament. If there was a "best" of the three, it would have to be the only list provided here because this is the competitive forums.
Give them a go, then report your results and we can help conform the deck to your playstyle, but until then, there's not really anything we can do to help you.

In anycase congrats.
Zemanjaski. Are you going to update The Sledgehammer list to include the 4 Bonfire of the Damned, in the main or did you do away with that plan?
