So I am building a custom cube (stealing the idea from Justin Parnell and Ali Antrazi). I would love help designing some cards. I already have about 500 cards done, although about 1/3 of those are existing cards, but I would love to have input from other people. Let me know here if you are interested in helping out or just pitch me a card! In the artist section of each card I am writing the person who designed the card so if I use something you make, you will be credited! Overall, the cube is very powerful, so don't worry about pushing cards. Below I have some guidelines and things I'm looking for:
Overall cube goals:
Like I mentioned, the cube is very powerful. I would like all strategies that I make available, to be truly viable.
Having lots of decision points is important to me. I have many cards where you have to make very difficult choices. I want this to be an extremely skill intensive playing experience.
Mechanics
Spell Flow- When you cast this card, you may return target instant or sorcery card, with converted mana cost less than or equal to this spell, from your graveyard to your hand.
Simplicity - This Card costs 1 more for each non-basic land you control.
Piggy Back - While this spell is on the stack, any player may discard a card, if they do, put a copy of this spell onto the stack under each player’s control. Those players may choose new targets for those copies.
Berserk {cost}- You may cast this card for {cost}. If you do, it gains haste, sacrifice it at then end of turn.
Durlde {number} - Draw a card then discard a card, {number} time(s).
Mark Counters - not a mechanic exactly. This is used by many ninja cards. Basically, most ninja cards have some way of putting mark coutners on creatures, and then different cards can do different things to creatures with mark counters on them, destroy them, get rid of their abilities, control magic them, that kind of thing.
ANY EXISTING MECHANIC!!
Color Identities/Archetypes:
White aggro - Disruptive. Think thalia, Guardian of thraben. Hate bear type cards. Tribe is soldiers, somewhat.
Black aggro - Resiliant. Think gravecrawler. Also some sacrifice theme. Tribe is zombies.
Red Aggro - All in, balls-to-the-wall. Think Flame Rift. Tribe is goblin.
Green - Elf ball. Mana producing elves and card drawing effects that make sense in green. Tribe is elves.
Blue - Controlling, very durdly, extremely powerful card advantage in the late game. No tribe although there are quite a few blue wizards and ninjas are heavily in blue.
White control - with blue, mostly, delaying
BWG - Midrangey junk type. Transfigure is a mechanic I've used quite a bit of. Lots of toolbox cards, mostly creatures, with strong card advantage.
Cheating fatties into play - This is mostly in blue and green as well as reanimator strategies. These decks are always fun to play.
Bant aggro - tempo based aggro decks usually in Bant colors, espeically blue and white.
UB Ninjas - using synnergy with mark counters, controlling, lots of decision points.
Tribal - I prefer not to have too much straight forward tribalness with "these creatures get +1/+1" type deal. I do have a couple lords in each color, and I therefore try to make as many creatures in those colors from the dominant tribe. I prefer things that reward you for having some cards from a tribe, but don't punish you if all of your cards are not from one tribe. Think War Falcon
Things I especially need designed:
- Powerful finishers and reanimation targets. These can be two seperate things, but I am using almost all preexisting cards for fatties because I can't really think of very clever ones. Stuff like Grave Titan or Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite which are good when cast or reanimated are great but I am also fine with stuff like Iona, Shield of Emeria which, realistically, will only ever be cheated into play.
- White disruptive low drops. I want some more sweet hate bears.
- Red cards that are good in mono red, but also good in non aggressive red decks.
- Transfigure cards. I love this mechanic and would like some more of these. I only have a few. Try to push them if you can.
- CARD ART AND NAMES!!! My biggest issue right now is that I have about 300 cards without art and many of them don't have good names. I am slowly finding art around the internet for as many cards as I can but this process is verrrrry slow so I really would appreciate any help anyone has to offer. Also, original art would obviously be amazing.
Unending Growth5GGG
Creature - Elemental (R)
Unending Growth can't be countered.
Trample
Whenever Unending Growth deals combat damage to a player, you may untap up to that many target permanents.
8/8
Valiant Hero1W
Creature - Human Soldier (R)
Valiant Hero is indestructible.
2/1
Blisterwing Phoenix2RR
Creature - Phoenix (R)
Morph RRRR
Flying
When Blisterwing Phoenix dies, return it to the battlefield face down.
4/2
Tattooed Zombie2B
Creature - Zombie (U)
Transfigure 1BB
As long as Tattooed Zombie is marked, you may Transfigure it any time you could cast an instant spell.
2/2
Unending Growth5GGG
Creature - Elemental (R)
Unending Growth can't be countered.
Trample
Whenever Unending Growth deals combat damage to a player, you may untap up to that many target permanents.

I like the design a lot. I think I'm going to make it cost 6. That will probably be a more accurate power level for this cube.
Blisterwing Phoenix2RR
Creature - Phoenix (R)
Morph RRRR
Flying
When Blisterwing Phoenix dies, return it to the battlefield face down.
4/2
This is one of the more beautiful top down phoenix designs I've seen. Great work. I think I wanna make it a little more powerful but I'm not sure how yet....
Tattooed Zombie2B
Creature - Zombie (U)
Transfigure 1BB
As long as Tattooed Zombie is marked, you may Transfigure it any time you could cast an instant spell.
2/2
I actually haven't used mark counters as a plus at all to this point. I think thats a really interesting idea...I like this card although I would definitely make it cheaper and/or have a higher power and toughness but I want to try to add more mark counters as a benefit cards.
BTW, can you PM your real name so I can credit you in the cards?
These are some cards I designed for my Stack. The philosophies of Stack and Cube are a bit different, but I'll share what I think might be appropriate.
Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor 5BB
Legendary Creature- Praetor (MR)
Inimidate 1BB, Pay X life: Cast target creature spell with converted mana cost X from a graveyard. “Even a creation as flawed as you can be made to serve the master’s vision.”—Gix, to Xantcha
Mournful Silence 4BB
Sorcery (R)
Destroy all creatures, then remove all counters from all permanents.
A blunt weapon, but I figure you could use those too. Assumes your Cube has 'walkers, of course. You can change the name and mana cost if they don't work for you.
Archangel of Justice 4WW
Creature- Angel (R or MR)
Flying, Vigilance
Whenever a permanent you control is destroyed by spell or ability an opponent controls, you may destroy target nonland permanent that opponent controls.
I specify nonland because I'm not using LD in Stack, but you can drop that word if you want to unleash the Justice.
Oliver Farrel 2WW
Legendary Creature- Human Cleric (R)
Oliver Farrel has power and toughness equal to the number of creatures you control.
Protection from Black
Whenever Oliver Farrel attacks and isn’t blocked, you may have it deal damage equal to its power to target creature defending player controls. If you do so, Oliver Farrel deals no combat damage this turn.
You can drop to 1WW if you need to. It's a bit of a throwback ability, not sure if that bothers you.
Wandering Evangelist 1WW
Creature- Human Cleric (R)
Whenever Wandering Evangelist deals combat damage to a player, gain control of target creature defending player controls of his or her choice.
Witch Hunt 2WW
Sorcery (U)
Detain all creatures target player controls.
I've got more, but that's enough for now. Hope you see something you like.
Cool idea thats been done several times before, I'd love to help. This thread might be a good place for some ideas. Anyway here's some specific ideas:
Bladed PairWW
Creature - Human Soldier (M)
When CARD enters the battlefield, you may search your library for a white creature with converted mana cost 1 and put it onto the battlefield. 1/1
Yado, Hero of the Rock
Legendary Creature - Human Soldier (R)
Double Strike
Sacrifice CARD: Target creature gains first strike until end of turn. 1/1
Hero's MarkW
Enchantment - Aura (R)
Enchant permanent
Enchanted permanent is indestructible. If enchanted permanent is a creature, it gets +2/+2. Otherwise, enchanted permanent gets "T: You gain 3 life".
If CARD would be put into your graveyard from anywhere, you gain 4 life.
Sword of Amysha3
Legendary Artifact - Equipment (M)
Equipped creature gets +2/+2 and gains lifelink and double strike.
Equip 2
Resurrection1W
Sorcery (R)
Return target white creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield. Target opponent gains life eqaul to that creatures power.
Stoneskull Loxodon1WW
Creature - Elephant (R)
CARD gets +1/+1 if you control an Island, +1/+1 if you control a Swamp, +1/+1 if you control a Mountain, and +1/+1 if you control a Forest. 3/3
Tell me if you think these are on par for your power level, and if you want stuff for the other colours (including brown).
