This card seems like it has a fair amount of potential. It blanks small attackers on their own, lonely nexi, etc., is a death knell to burn, and can make if very hard to kill you over the course of the game, especially since you're still doing stuff while it's slowly building your life back up. Thoughts?

Go to my blog, Musings of the False God, for in-depth guides playing the game, from the building blocks of deck design to deceiving your opponent through clever game play!

It's way too slow to be of any use to any deck, even if you're gaining the life back each upkeep. You would need multiples to see any real benefit, and it doesn't actively help win you the game.

Lapsed DCI Rules Advisor - Retired from playing but still hanging around
It's great in limited, kinda like Tablet of the Guilds, but I couldn't see it being good in Modern. Sometimes I run Dragon's Claw in my sideboard to help out against R/x Aggro and Storm, but that is the only card like it that I have ever considered using.
I think I've seen it in the sideboard of the occasional UBR deck as anti-RDW tech. Of course, green and white have access to better life gain like Rest for the Weary and Kitchen Finks (heck, Deathrite Shaman can gain pretty obnoxious amounts of life).
I've seen it next to Power Conduit as a way to charge up Chalices (Everflowing and Of The Void), and once that engine gets going you can do some pretty dumb stuff with Lux Cannon. It's a pretty fragile strategy but if your opponent isn't prepared for it (which should never happen in a format with Cranial Plating legal) they will probably lose.

I can see it being a great card in clerics, to help reach end game.
