I haven't seen this card mentioned in the Cube forums at all, and I am curious to hear if anyone has playtested it. It is a 4/4 for 1B, but I guessing that the drawback is too big for it to be playable.
It was fine for some constructed formats with little to no combat because all the damage it dealt was too the opponent, and it was a fair trade for aggro. The cube has too much combat for it to be viable.
It's not as bad, but much of what can be said of Phyrexian Negator can be said of this guy.
The Reaver works in an environment which is either low on creatures or which run small-ish creatures. If you run a ton of 2/2s in your Cube, then it should be fine. If the average guy is a 4/4, it may not be too good.
Sweet baby Yawgmoth! That card is HORRIBLE for Limited play. I'd pick Wretched Anurid, Skittering Skirge, or Skittering Horror over that jank any day of the week. Seriously, one block by a Saproling token and you're losing the race to 0 life. It's basically unplayable unless you give it lifelink somehow.
Man, imagine if he had the Jackle Familiar drawback instead of the Flesh Reaver drawback :/. As it stands now Wretched Anurid is just the better card, with a more relevant creature type.
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.

Don't get me wrong, I used to play it in sui, but that was a whole different ball game.

I'm confused. Are you suggesting that a 4/4 for 2 mana wouldn't be good?

Well yea, the stupid Kird Ape Boar is good enough to see play in powered cubes.
It's a conditional 3/3 for 1G, that can have haste for 1GR.
Ya because the Gruul competition isn't steep for the 4th+ spot.
