So I had some time to kill and wanted to make a really flavourful and unique deck. After reading the awful tribes thread it inspired me to go big. Seeing as nothing is as big as a wurm (I'm looking at you Worldspine Wurm) I figured why not. I really don't know what to expect with this and I think I will proxy it up first in some form. Lets hope I don't get too steamrolled.
I couldn't decide on what direction I wanted to do and originally was building a Jarad wurm tribal deck. After realizing there just wasn't enough decent wurms available in those colours I decided to go for broke.
Any help and suggestions are both welcome and probably needed. Does anyone even have experience playing something like this? Also, in the remote possibility that the rumour about the legendary Nephilim in Gatecrash are true I will probably drop blue in this deck all together. It is such an unwurmlike colour.
I cut it. I had 82 cards before lands when I had my first draft. That was one of the last. I know it is flavour but I just felt it wasn't enough. Maybe I'm wrong. Never played it before.
I just don't want to sit there with my flavour deck watching everyone else play. I have been slowly trying to work on my meta into getting them to build silly flavour decks and so far no luck. Closest thing was a Damia zombies list that two of my meta are trying to build together for over 8 months and still nothing. The other big deck builder in my Meta said he felt it was time to make it new deck. He first suggested Zur Voltron *facepalm*. After some convincing he is not building Chainer combo goodstuff for a "flavour" deck.
Based on my meta I just felt blowing 15mana on a vanilla wurm that probably wont ever make an effect in the slightest is a bad thing. Far to many counters, removal, sweeps and chump blockers to deal with.
You should throw in rite of replication because the only thing better than one massacre wurm is 6 that give -12/-12 to all opponents and cause them to lose 12 life for each creature that dies. What's that Ulamog? You don't want to go to the GY? Well too bad.
I dunno about you but pelakka wurm is just a lot of card advantage for a deck, and a great beater, also the one that taps all artifacts when it swings could be a good addition.
As for your ramp you might want to add at the minimum (this is what I added)
I agree with about half the additions suggested. My issue is what to cut.
I'm not entirely sure how I missed Sol Ring and I agree about Thran Dynamo for sure. I have one of each sitting around as well.
I don't agree with adding tribal buff such as Door to Nothingness. I didn't see a benefit in that card in my Rhys token deck to justify it over the non-tribal buff. Since I'll have even fewer of a tribe on the battlefield than I did during Rhys I don't feel it will pump more than +4/+4.
Genesis is the perfect card for reusable recurrsion. Need to find a way to put that in.
I think I'll also switch out Eladamri's Call for Jarad's Orders.
Rite of Rep is very good but I have it in every blue containing deck I have. I would love to try one that doesn't use it. This may change if I find I need some power boost.
I am a huge fan of wurms. I too thought about doing a wurm theme deck. (Just gave up) Anyway, any thoughts about dirtcowl wurm or cryptic gateway. cryptic gateway is a great way to cheat in your fatties. And dirtcowl wurm gets big pretty fast in those multi-player games. (Especially is someone else has out their oracle.
Finally, are you hard set on Cromat. I feel Karona, the False God will be better suited. Yes other players can abuse her but I think thats ok with the theme you have going.

Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord - I guess draining everyone for 7 is kinda cool, but personally I'd cut him Sun Titan - Your not playing fetch lands and you don't have many other targets for him in the deck

Just cut birthing pod for Elvish Piper in my list, I'm liking it all right, might want eternal witness for some recursion of things like mana reflection. thinking of cutting black and making this a mayael list, but I love Massacre wurm, mole worms, charnelhoard wurm, trench worm and golgari rotwurm, it'd be hard to switch, maybe put some hellions in or soemthign I dunno.

I've found that you don't need any buffs to make them hurt, they are rather large, though I run a few more, but either way In the Web of war is a great buff haste enabler, maybe a way to ensure they get through though.. wonder in the yard?

On Cromat itself. I have this for pure flavour. Despite that it is an illusion it looks rather wurm like.

Aura shards seems kind of weak since your guys cost so much, also why run minds eye? you have better draw options available in the color, maybe rhystic study or mind unbound?
I have proxied it and plan to give it some play testing and tuning before purchasing cards.
Unfortunately due to the holidays I haven't really been playing much EDH and have only played one game in it. I drew every single non-wurm card in my deck except for lands. Was short black mana for the first 8 turns easy. Kind of a poor analog.
One of my first EDH decks was all about getting fat creatures into play. There are a couple other ways you can go about doing this.
You already have Elvish Piper, but there are additional ways to cheat things out. Quicksilver Amulet can let you drop stuff into play at instant speed. You're also playing enough dudes to get Lurking Predators in there. Tooth and Nail can put 2 big wurms directly into play. Summoning Trap doesn't need to have anything countered, you can still use it to get something large into play. Maelstrom Archangel can cheat fat things in your hand into play. And I don't think you really have enough huge dudes, but I also used Mayael the Anima. That last one isn't really recommended tho.
Just some ideas.

I like Steely Resolve but would I be better served with Asceticism for the regeneration? I thought about Asceticism before and decided against it due to the conflict with my curve. Steely Resolve doesn't have that issue though.
I also considered Quicksilver Amulet as well. Didn't end up going with it but I have been feeling my deck is lacking in tempo even for wurms. I'm trying to keep non-wurm goodstuff out of the deck as well but Maelstrom Archangel is nice. Perhaps I'll proxy it and give it a try.

Sun Titan seems outve place except to recur mana dorks. not sure you have enough 3cmc permanents to make this worthwhile?
Boneyard wurm seems weak for the same reason you said you didnt like wurmcalling.

artifact ramp is great because it lets you land ramp as well and gets you into the mid game faster.
