Default Simic Fluxmage

Gatecrash card in Ravnica pack at FNM tonight. Simic Fluxmage, uncommon with an ability called "evolve". Whenever a creature enters the battlefield under your controls, if that creature has greater power or toughness than this creature, put a +1/+1 counter on this creature.

Looks like it could be legit, but it was rare enough that an RTR card got into a pack of M13, that I highly doubt this is true.

If it is true, its an interesting mechanic, and can snowball pretty well if done right.

Also if its not redundant and there are ways to grant it (or if its # based) it could be awesome, and there's design space like Unleash (If X has a +1/+1 counter on it..)

Evolve is the same mechanic that Ethan Fleischer used in GDS2 I believe? Second time this has happened in three sets if true. I wonder if WotC is doing this on purpose or if there's some kinda problem at the card making factory.

You could use this to make Unleash creatures unable to block...

I think I like it!

(Obviously that is not gonna be a situation often until RGD drafts!)

Looks totally legit. Evolve isn't an over-powered mechanic as it only triggers on your own creatures and it's PERFECTLY Simic in flavor.

Considering the picture is known to be for the Simic but has only been posted on a weird angle with some filters over it. I don't think a "clean" version has been posted anywhere, so if it's a fake, I have no idea where they could have got it.
By the way, I'm talking about this:

I'm usually very wary of fakes, but there's nothing that strikes me as odd about this card or the mechanic. (Plus, I wish I can use a monogreen creature with that ability for my Naya Séance deck)

If this is true, its gonna make simic pretty strong in limited. Each evolve creature could become a powerhouse.

Looks like a real enough mechanic, but I'm curious, does a creature with evolve trigger its ability when it enters the battlefield itself, which then does nothing because its the same P/T? And would that P/T comparison occur both when its triggered and when it resolves? I know other similarly templated abilities used "Whenever another creature or ~ ETB", I never really hear whether it would still trigger for itself without the wonky "another or this" template

Every time I read a mechanic I'm programmed to automatically try to come up with some fantistically silly way to break it, but this one looks like it crossed its i's and dotted its t's

It plays really well with the beast that bounces to hand from M13, or with Yeva (flashing in during combat, buff your stuff, block)

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking, but I believe the answer lies in Sigil Captain's rulings.

The Simic watermark from Magic Set Editor is different. It can help to identify if this is fake or not, proving it's not :P
