I actually like the new Ghost Council a fair bit. It'll have to compete with Lingering Souls for me, though. But he look great. He dish out 7 damage per turn, gain you 2 life, and dodge sorcery speed removal. But well, he IS a 5 drop. So I'm not sure how good he is, really.
This card seems amazing. The casting cost is the only thing holding it back from "staple for all cubes" status (though it may end up being worth it anyways). It just does so much so well that people should very strongly consider the card for their cube.
This group of oldies is a serious beating! Loving it already, and I'm contemplating moving out either Mortify or Stillmoon Cavalier for it (probably the Cavalier)
Yep, looks like Unburial Rites is getting a swift axe for this card. The only downside I find unappealing is the difficult casting cost but for the package this card delivers I really think its worth it. Talk about passing the Vindicate test... these old coots had the answer key.
This card seems like the nuts, it will all come down to how often he actually gets cast. But this guy, before you get to attack with him, is an 8 point life swing. I'll have to look at my orzhov decks and see how fast they get to WWBB

I don't think it's very good, honestly. Its cost is much too restrictive for a card that is basically only aggressive and has no evasion. It will be raced all day by aggro and aggressive midrange.
It's definitely cool. I might give it the nudge over desolation angel in my cube to test it out, but I expect we'll get a better orzhov card this set and I'll completely forget about this guy. 7 damage that dodges sorcery speed removal and gains you life. If only it had flying, or vigilance or trample or anything.

The continual enters-the-battlefield effect is most certainly a form of evasion when the board is locked up and can certainly race aggressive strategies in a BW shell (where this will generally be surrounded by disruption in the form of removal and discard). I wouldn't cube this over Lingering Souls, Vindicate, or Sorin mostly due to the restrictive nature of it's cost, but after that I think it fits very well as an option for a 4th slot in BW sections.
His casting cost does not throw me off too much actually. It seems intensive but when I think of BW and how I have seen it being played in my cube I hardly see them having mana issues or recall looking over seeing a lack of BBWW by turn 5. I certainly am going to shove him in and see how he works, even on turn 6 this guy can swing a game in a big way. I would say he is even better than AoD to a degree.
But yeah, your point still stands, he's pretty good at dodging removal and he has pseudo-evasion. If they race you, this guy represents an amazing clock. While he can't block, he drains repeatedly.
Black/white decks already have trouble here due to a lot of the best cards costing BB and WW. I'm leery of adding a mana-intensive bomb since I have to deal with a lot more color-intensive options at 720.
1XXYY isn't really that much of a problem in a 2 colored deck 91.2% compared to 74.9% for XX or 90.2% for 2XX (3 duals, equal distribution among basics).
How can XX be castable only 75% of the time but XXYY1 is castable 91% of the time?
Yeah, it wasn't clear from Eidolon's post, but those are the odds of having the specific mana available on-curve. Obviously XX is easier to get past turn 2.
I love this guy as a card, but I'm not sure about cube. The casting cost is bad but the abilities and p/t are strong. It doesn't break the top 3 Orzhov cards, and I think I still like Desolation Angel as a game-ender. Better than Gerard's Verdict? Probably but it fills less vital of a role. So, I'm just not sure. In my fantasy world, we get at least two better Orzhov cards so I don't have to think too much about this.
Also, add Rout and Diabolic Edict to the list of cards that can kill this.
The casting cost is prohibitive to the number of decks it can be played in.. but.. This is a REALLY good curve topper in W/B agro (5 is stretching it, but this card might be worth it) as well as a solid esper control card.
It's not broken or anything, and in an environment where a lot of decks go WAY over the top, it's far from an exciting pick.
In standard it seems absurd, but cube.. I'd say it's 4th-6th best orzhov card.
However, it does lack synergy so it's not an amazing card to include.
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.
Simply put the powerlevel does not overcome the WWBB manacost, at 3WB I'd say great, but not the cost it is listed at. The # of decks it will see play in are extremely small because of the mana restrictions therefore I wont be including it.
