A strong utility creature by itself (strong enough for inclusion imo), but has the capabilities of becoming outrageous with any sort of pump effect, being equipment, anthems, etc. I think it's a shoe in right now.
Seems pretty combo, I'm unsure how good he actually is because you only want to play it with red pingers which doesn't fit well with a black white card.
Great with Sword of Light and Shadow and Recurring Nightmare.
I fear that this is just going to be a harder to cast Typhoid Rats a lot of the time.
As a purely defensive card, I am not sure if I am willing to use up a slot in my BW section for this.
Now that you mentioned it, that may be his only role. WoTC...so close...
He's very viable for testing, though he needs to fight Ghost Council 2.0 for a spot

This is my first impression of the card, too. I am really not excited at all. Unless you have a few special cards at hand (often requiring you to play more than two colors), you have to rely on your opponent to trigger your weaker-than-Vindicate. Relying on your opponent's choices makes the Priest similar to a punisher card. Vindicate is great and I would certainly play one that cannot target lands, but this card requires you to jump through too many hoops to get the effect. And all of this just for a one mana discount. The new Ghost Council has a far higher chance to be included in my cube than this guy here.
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.
oh how I wish it was a death trigger, I'd play the heck out of this. Oh well. As is, I just want someone to equip Sword of Fire and Ice to him, and tell me it was awesome, and then I'm good.
Even if it was a death trigger it would still be a WB 1/1. I don't think that's good enough. Maybe if you strongly support stax/pox it is? Not in the my 360 the way it is now, though.

The 1 mana cost reduction on Vindicate is totally not worth the huge drawback.
I may have considered him if he had a good synergy with Recurring Nightmare.
This must have been wizard's concession to a vindicate reprint = disappointing. Not that I thought they'd ever allow it in the modern card pool, but this new card is just a let down.
If this were a death trigger I'd auto include him.
Agreed. Even in standard a death trigger would make him very powerful. Imagine Havengul Lich with this guy. They made the hoop difficult to jump through for a reason.
Well you don't play it for the 1/1 body but for the fact that he will die and destroy something at the same time, the same way you don't really run Baleful Strix because he is 1/1 for UB but because of Deathtouch + cantrip.
I don't think that's a valuable comparison. Strix has an etb ability so it's guaranteed value, and it has a much better body. Everything I dislike about this guy doesn't pertain to the strix, which I think is a fine cube card. A 1/1 deathtouch flier is quite a bit better than a 1/1 vanilla, and a card I know I'll draw is a lot better than a vindicate I can't be sure I'll get.

I'm sort of glad it's not a death trigger. Stacks would be much less fun to play against.

Best Orchoz card spoil so far, maybe? It's sounds pretty good.
EDIT:
Here's the card text from rumor mill

But definitely a tough card to judge and unfortunately my list is too small to try him out.
