**One of the most magnificent buildings in all Bakara, the Church of the Unblinking Eye is a marvel of modern architecture and one of the great bastions of power. Sitting right on the edge of the night enchantment around Sylvan, the Initiate’s church is always half bathed in perpetual darkness, and the other half the time it is fully eclipsed when the sun goes down; perhaps a fitting symbol of the church’s actual mandate of utter secrecy. The building is a grand cathedral of shadowy glamour: employed around the exterior are an arcade of classic gothic arches, they run the length of the buildings sides, and draw heavily from Sylvan’s Old Country architecture and style. Fashioned out of a polished deep black stone, the front door is formed by three grand arches, the biggest at the center where the twin oak doors make the entrance. To either side of the doors are two beautiful rising buttressed towers, the center piece of which is a giant circular stained glass window; sitting right above the door, connecting between the towers, it depicts a huge version of the Lidless Eye. Upon entering you are greeted by a breathtakingly marvelous ribbed vault, which leads up to the altar at the very back of the church. Many dissecting rooms and courtyards eddy off from the main sanctuary, but what you failed to notice upon first entering now unnerves you, as you are eerily surrounded by a coterie of muted guards all dressed head to foot in black plate armor and each holding wicked looking pikes. This is the Praetorian Guard, and it is said that you cannot go anywhere within the church without their notice. Tread very carefully.**
**The sentinels were ebony clothed and silent as a hewn monument. The center isle of the long sanctuary was empty save for a single figure Dana could make out, who stood admiring the great altar piece that sat directly at the nadir of the imposing central dome of the cathedral.**
**The single Initiate stood mute for a long time before answering Dana. The polyptych altarpiece he surveyed was huge, the retable filled the entire space reaching more than half way to the ribbed vault above them.**
Lone Initiate - Artistry is such a wondrous thing, is it not? Truly, a painter is the demiurgic being of his medium; fashioning the immaterial into the actual physical world, his work is the apotheosis of all his powers. I am always astounded when viewing a painting, no matter how many times I've seen it. A disquietude settles within my very soul, and I think: here is a vision born in another's mind brought manifest; I can't comprehend the complexities; I don't understand; I try to discover all the nuances that it might possess, the sublimity hidden within the small frame, the minute piece of its creator that it has captured, that it is trying desperately to convey to me; it is screaming, here I am! You only needopen your eyes and see.
**Dana felt a deep change within her, a pressure slowly built up and built up, she couldn't possibly bear it, but right when she felt it would destroy her, something was unlocked that had been there all along, she'd simply lacked the required awareness to see it.**
Nameless Initiate - Ah. Of course. Please, follow me. A Prelate awaits you.
**Dana was lead into a small alcove that lead off the nave of the church floor. The Initiate held out his hand and invitation as he opened an oaken sliding door for Dana, which was attached to a an identical chamber, divided by a black wicker screen.**
**The door slid closed behind her, and Dana found herself in a magical dark, somehow no light penetrated her small chamber even though that didn't seem possible. She sat alone in darkness for a time, and after what could have been a few hours or maybe it was just merely moments, a reverberating voice laced with an inauspicious power spoke to her.**
**Suddenly, light flooded into the chamber, and Dana found herself kneeling on a padded rest, in the small oaken compartment. The opposing chamber through the screen dividing her from the other side was completely empty.**
**Braids lead him through church's heart, and down a flight of stairs. The pair came to a long corridor of rooms, and Braids walked on until she was standing in front of a heavy wooden door that she proceeded to unlock with a black skeleton key. She motioned for Yusuf to enter.**
**The door shut closed behind Yusuf as he entered with the finality of a casket. The room was spartan, but immensely pristine, lacking even a single dust mote. The saaur was feeling a certain pull from the very center of the room, where a single stone well issued from the ground. There was a marking at the very base of the stonework, that looked as if it might be a prayer mat.**
To live is to hope, and while we breathe, we hope and live.
Dana- "I am an Initiate. I'm here for guild reasons."
