People, I have a simple question which I didn't know the answer today. When Modern Masters become legal, if a card changed rarity from uncommon (or rare, I don't know) to common, will it be Pauper legal? I think it won't, but it would be nice to know from the more experienced people here. Thanks.
Commander and Planeschase commons are legal even though they aren't "real sets"
If it leads to a destabilization of the format there will hopefully be some bans to restabilize it and prevent it from turning into a MM cards or bust situation.

Actually, the Commander and Planechase didn't change any rarities. All cards printed at Common had already been printed at common in a real set.
The question was that if MM changes a cards rarity from UC to C, is it Pauper legal?
Wizards can do whatever they want, generally, but I think they'd include them, given that all the Masters' Edition commons are legal.

Oh, you think the losers' bracket is your ally, but you merely adopted the scrub tier. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn’t 4-0 an FNM until I was already a man; by then, it was nothing to me but an extra pack to sell for store credit!
Serrated Arrows was only an uncommon before it was printed in Duel Decks: Garruk vs. Liliana. It was printed as a common there, so any other special printings of commons will likely be Pauper legal.

You're right.
Makes sense to me that MM can change rarities and any new commons will count for pauper.
Now it remains to be seen whether or not we will get any love from the developers
I'd be happy with just Savage Lands & friends being upgraded to common
That sort of fixing would be pretty cool - I'm not sure if those are core Modern cards, though? I don't really play the format.
I do expect to see reprints of some of the $3 commons though ~ Lightning Bolt, Serum Visions and so on; while it might not do much for Pauper, it'll drop the cost of playing paper for people, I think. I wonder if they'd reprint Ghost Quarters at common, rather than necessarily banning Cloud/Glimmerpost in Pauper?

They really want the set to be a fun, high-powered draft experience, though, so you can expect them to reprint a bunch of mana fixing, even if it's not fixing that gets played in serious Modern decks. And remember, the Zendikar fetches are off the table...

They could do the same with Tectonic Edge! Not sure which I'd rather have.

Depends on the fixing they print, I suppose. Ghost Quarter could hate out 3/4 colour fixing with regards to drafting, I suppose ~ which might stifle Naya aggro and stuff's chances in Pauper.
OTT, Tectonic Edge is more for hosing control decks running high landcounts, and I want to play 4C Teachings some time soon.

Specifically read the last sentence of the first paragraph.

I'd love to see Mutavault or PtE dropped down, myself.

gatherer says yes. However, before duel decks, it was only online as a timeshifted card.
