Note: I have posted a discussion here about the current state of Marton. ISB is currently retiring the Primer until further notice, and I wanted to continue the discussion of this deck for anyone who still was interested in running him. Just in general also, I wanted some community feedback on the current state of the build. Thank you
Marton is a Commander that I truly love and have bonded with over many games. I feel that him and his game plan reflect a lot of my personality: Reckless, all in, and bringing results at the very last minute (That last part is probably because I am a procrastinator). But that's beside the point, this is my current Commander deck and it has been doing amazing in testing. The deck first started out as a Norin the Wary deck, but it simply got too stale for me after a while. Not that the entire table was moaning and groaning, its simply he didn't tickle my fancy. I was in the middle of a tournament one night when I finally couldn't stand Norin. I had to change my commander. I pulled out my binder and saw that all of my mono-Red legends were subpar and not very good. Then I pulled out my copy of Dragon Rider (my favorite book, don't judge) and I found my bookmark: Marton.
I didn't have any materials to pull another color for support, and the next game was going to start in a half an hour. I quickly scrambled to take out the chaos spells and plug in as many token cards as I could, making some trades and bargains here and there while I was at it. I also pulled up ISBPathfiner's Primer to help smooth the deck out as much as I could. Soon, the games began. And, while I did lose, I love him. I took out two players before Sen Triplets got me (damn them! Mortal enemies, next to Nin and Lazav :argh:). But anyway, I went home and tuned the deck more and traded for more cards. After some time, the deck has evolved from a janky token deck to a solid deck that has earned a reputation in my meta. No one so much as groans when I get Marton, but as one of the older players at the shop said, "Finally, a challenge!".
The deck operates like a glass machine gun (because those are so fun and pretty ). The game plan is to begin your game ramping and keeping a low profile. Since we are mono red, there are bigger threats on the table that will be dealt with first. So take this into account and your favor as you stabilize our mana base. The more mana we have, the better. After that, we need to begin filling our field with tokens. The deck has more than enough token generators to make a good sized army. Next, we will try to get a haste outlet. Sadly, there are little to no tutors in red, and the only tutorable haste outlet is Goblin Hellraiser. But still, there are around 8 or so; chances are you will draw one in the course of the game. Hey, no one said this was a stable plan. NEXT! Along with the haste outlet and your small army of tokens, cast Marton and swing for massive damage. To make this more successful, set up some sort of evasion or way to get your little knuckleheads through, like Bedlam. I will write more, but for the moment if you wish to know a more concise and better explained strategy, view ISBPathfinder's Primer above.
I do want to dedicate this deck to my brother, who helped me build this deck and is my idol in general

Kozilek, Butcher of Truth he works great as a plan B swing guy. With the addition of all the haste he can often come out swinging as well which is nice to do.
Slate of Ancestry it is a token deck so drop a few tokens and just draw a new hand off of this. It can easily be one of the craziest card drawing outlets avalible. The downside is you really dont want to drop it until you can activate it too so it can be tricky. It usually draws me at least a new hand of 4 at the minimum though when I use it. When its working well though I might draw like 10+ cards in one shot with this.
Mind's Eye really great card draw option. It usually gets nuked quickly but it is also really good.
Staff of Nin potential spot removal plus card draw.
Granted... you already saw my list so you probably know about these options. Still, I thought I would mention them to you as you mentioned needing more card draw. I personally run my list as sort of a glass cannon though so I dont bother with removing threats too much so much as just powering to fast kills when possible.
I am not as keen on:
Goblin Recruiter this is just to topdeck which I dislike. If you can, get a Moggcatcher instead. I can go from moggcatcher and haste to lethal really easily in one turn rotation. Its just all sorts of crazy.
Warren Instigator this isnt really an effect you need in this deck. You want all of your guys in play before you attack and goblins just dont cost that much. You are better off with a mana stone instead of him.
Snow lands but no snow support? I would try to get Mouth of Ronom in there at least if you do have snow lands. Still, snow lands are pimp as Marton is from Ice Age :).
More ramp, more draw in my opinion. I run mine sort of as a glass cannon which I know isn't for everyone so I wont bother nit picking about answers. I am just sort of an all in kinda guy with my Marton list.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
I also have a Marton list, although not as public as ISBs, but started around same time.
Mogg Infestation and Goblin War Drums seems a bit sub par, you don't want to give them creatures to block with and if you're going to make it hard to block Bedlam is just better, although I wouldn't care and just more token generators.
I would advise including Myr Incubator and Firecat Blitz, both can give you very quick armies. I do like your approach of running some answers though.
I also play Weiss Schwarz, Chaos, Vanguard and Wixoss.
Weiss Schwarz Sets
Accel World, Angel Beats, Familiar of Zero, Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet, Guilty Crown, Kill La Kill, Robotics;Notes, Sword Art Online.
Chaos Partners
Arpeggio of Blue Steel: Iona, Kirishima, Kongou.
Dangan Ronpa: Asahina, Togami.
Freezing: Vibration: Chiffon, Satelizer.
Vanguard Clans Favoured
Angel Feather, Dark Irregulars, Genesis, Neonecter, Pale Moon, Shadow Paladins, Tachikaze.
Kozilek, Butcher of Truth he works great as a plan B swing guy. With the addition of all the haste he can often come out swinging as well which is nice to do.

I feel so honored that you posted on my thread
For Kozilek, Slate of Ancestry, Memory Jar, and Mind's Eye, I have yet to get my hands on them. I can probably get Memory Jar and Mind's Eye soon. Fingers crossed!
Staff of Nin, in my personal taste, is much too clunky. I have played it before, and it has simply been too much a dead card when I have too few lands. I just don't like the Staff personally. Maybe, we shall see!
I agree with the opinion of Recruiter and Warren Instigator. I don't know who has a Moggcatcher, but I will, hehe, try to catch one!
Heretic has been cut Also, the snow support will come soon! I'm actually proxying the Snow Lands, since no one has them and I haven't mustered the courage to dish out the money online. When I get them, I will focus more on a Snow package.

I have referred to your list too!
I like both cards, but I wouldn't mind taking out the Drums for Bedlam. The Mogg Infestation is a awesome wipe against strong utility creatures and just massive monsters. I would rather them have a field of weenies than giant fatties or back breaking utility creatures. Infestation is also awesome on yourself, destroying all of your sub par creatures and tokens, and doubling creature count.
I like them both! If I can find them, for sure! And thank you sire!

Looking for more cards, found two gems today. Hellkite Charger has opened the option of extra combat steps. I want to play around with that a little bit. What are good Extra attack step cards? Also, Orochi Hatchery is an awesome token generator. So, what to take out?
Viashino Heretic- ISB pointed out that I had too many artifact hate cards and Viashino was being a little clunky. I'll keep him nearby for testing though.
Dragon Mage- I got three wheel effects already. And a dragon for a dragon? Seems pretty fair.

Hellkite Charger - I usually shoot for doing things just once and being done with it. I generally aim for killing everyone in one shot when possible so I am a lot less keen on it. Its really not cheap to use him either.
Mogg Infestation as a token spawner is usually kinda meh because it requires you to already have a decent number of tokens before you use it. I found it sort of situational due to that and as removal its still rather situational.
Staff of Nin - I agree, it sort of does suck lol. But I push draw fairly hard and its sort of like the only option that was reasonable that I wasn't running already.
Dragon Mage - he is alright. I replaced him when they made the 5 mana version. He is really sort of weird as he has to hit a player to trigger. Due to this he might suddenly die to spot removal as you attack due to some players not wanting you to wheel. He is also expensive. If he at least had an ETB trigger or something I wouldnt have as much an issue with him but he needs to be set up with haste as well.

Hmmm taken into consideration!
I found some cards! WOoo! However, the guy I traded for the new stuff didn't give up his Gauntlet of Power. Damn!
Slate of Ansectry- Card draw! I also altered the card art It looks super nice!
Bedlam- For more evasion and getting that finishing blow in for the win!
Caged Sun- I don't need to explain why this is here. It's awesome!
Goblin Offensive- I can't believe I found this. I was amazed beyond belief. And with an old frame! Wooo!
Moonveil Dragon- I wanted to test this out as a mana sink when I have nothing better to do in a turn (Usually when my hand count is zero, and Marton can't be played with haste
Hey, glad to see you are still riding with Marton. My Marton sadly lost his horse in my recent alter acquisition... I think he ended up looking a lot cooler though without it.
Just to drop some more feedback on your list:
Motlen Birth I always worry about random result cards. If you like the idea of random results though you might consider the idea of running Rally the Horde before this card due to the fact that the chances of it getting a second wave of guys is better than a coin flip and you only have to cast it once. It could end up being a really really big wave of guys for 6 mana as well which I think is cool. Motlen Birth just seems a little under powered especially if it doesn't get recurred at least once.
Chancellor of the Forge I still think this guy is sort of winmore. You need a decent set of guys already for him to do much with. Its nice though if you are sitting on like 5+ guys already but thats in part why I call him winmore. He is good when you already have several guys but really cruddy if you don't have guys.
Sword of Feast and Famine I guess I find this surprising to see in a token based deck. It also speaks volumes that you might be playing your Marton significantly different than I am mine. I tend to rarely have creatures I want to attack in a turn to turn basis and often not have creatures in play. I guess we have a little different basic plan for our Marton decks. Have you considered instead a mana stone or doubler?
Lightning Greaves I really don't care for target haste. It helps a little as far as getting Marton going but it also cant push a lot of guys along at the same time. You have most of the obvious haste outlets though that I already run. I think Akroma's Memorial is the only one I am running that you are not.
Looking forward to seeing how the M14 stuff does for you though. Keep us posted.

Your feedback is always appreciated I like your alter!! I've been too scared to alter mine and I like the original art. I have been slowly either foiling or altering the rest of the deck.
For Molten Rebirth, I understand your concern and the problem with being random. I'm still testing it and haven't gathered enough results to deem it playable or not. And my problem with Rally of the Hordes is it looks scary. I may exile cards I need, so really I have to blow out at that exact minute. I may look into Rally of the Hordes.
Like you said, I'm more of a token based strategy than you, so I need as many generators as I can. That being said, Chancellor does bring an army, even if its board dependent. Along with a haste outlet and 3-5+ creatures, he can make a significant turn in the tide. I'm still testing him for myself so we'll see.
The Sword is kind of a meta call. Black and Green are common colors in my meta and they have lots of spot removal. I mainly use it for protection actually, and occasionally hook it up to Rapacious One. To be honest I'd rather have Sword of Light and Shadow for the recursion.
Hmmm I agree. Akroma's Memorial is a much better outlet. And I think we are running the same outlets. Did you finally decide on the new Ogre?
By the way I tested Young Pyromancer. It really isn't that good. There are so few situation where he makes an army. One possibility is to drop him, then some small spells, and end with Empty the Warrens for some storm madness. But besides that he was dead on the field. Maybe made a few tokens before he was pinged by Olivia.

Chancelor - I agree that he does get a lot better with being more creature based which you seem to be. Its probably a lot better with your list than it was for mine.
I like the new Ogre but I am not sold that he is better than Urabrask the Hidden. I am currently not running either but have considered the possibility of adding one of the two back into the list. I think both are good though but I just cant get past the fact that the new Ogre doesn't have haste himself for whatever reason.
Young Pyromancer - I think mono red would have a really hard utilizing him in most any deck to be honest. I know some of the Izzet spellslinger commanders have been sort of contemplating pushing him around. His abilities are just really hard to utilize with mono red though.

I personally run both. I found that the more haste outlets I have, the better. There have been situations where I run into redundancy, with two haste outlets on the field at once. I don't mind this because if my opponents happen to remove one, I stil have another. So Urabrask and the Ogre are A+s for me.
I agree with Young Pyromancer. I honestly don't get the hype around him. People calling him the red Tarmagoyf. And he's so underclasses in Commander.

Loading up on haste outlets is understandable. It is unfortunate when they disappear but at the same time for me people tend to target Marton as well so having 2+ haste outlets doesn't necessarily mean that my attack wont suck.
Pyromancer is getting hype in the Modern and Legacy formats because he potentially drops a lot of bodies quickly. Those formats tend to run a lot of very cheap spells for control decks so he could provide several chump blockers or attackers quickly. The idea of dropping a few Lightning Bolts and getting 1/1s for free out of each one has some appeal in those formats. I think he is being over hyped but time will tell on that front.

Update. I finally got Goblin Welder and friends. I'm so excited to test out these new cards!
Goblins are such a huge part of my own build. I have really enjoyed having access to them. Its funny the first time someone sees me work a moggcatcher. Generally speaking for those who dont know, Moggcatcher + mass haste + mana means I can generally kill everyone the turn rotation after dropping him.
In my own package I will usually do this assuming I have Moggcatcher + mass haste + mana.
My turn: (there are still 2 Moggcatchers because we did it at EOT so the kiki copy is still with us) First tutor grabs Siege-Gang Commander (8 goblins now assuming no other support). Second Moggcatcher fetches Ib Halfheart, Goblin Tactician (9 goblins). Kiki copies Siege-Gang Commander (13 goblins) for more tokens, Drop Marton, Cannibalize lands to Ib Halfheart (15-20+ goblins now assuming you even need it). Tap Krenko (26 goblins minimum assuming you did it all right). And that all originates from Moggcatcher + haste lol.
Generally speaking, if everything is going correctly you really dont even need Ib Halfheart for this. If you lack haste its slightly slower but still very explosive and you can end it with grabbing Hellraiser Goblin. I honestly don't cant even see myself without my goblin package now after playing with them for so long.
As far as Goblin Welder goes, such good value to him. My favorite thing to do with him is continuously loop a Memory Jar into play lol.

Goblins are just such an amazing tribe. I mean, people say oh herp derp, goblins, but it takes skill to pilot them efficiently.
I don't think I have used Moggcatcher to that extreme. I have once dropped her, then fetched Ib, then played Marton, then saced my mountains, and finally copied the army with Krenko, and won. It was pretty amazing! But wait, Kiki-Jiki's tokens stay? How did that work? Tell me your secrets Jedi Master!!
And when I got Goblin Weilder for my birthday I was so stoked. Then I tested him out. I didn't realize he was one mana... Mind=Blown
UPDATE!:
On to the update!!! I have finally gave in when I pulled Chandra 4.0 in a pack. I was so stoked!! She is really more visually pleasant rather than Ablaze. And her +0 so far has been amazing! I am so excited to have her on board. I think the slow grind advantage is better than the wheel effects. But we shall see how that plays out.
I have also bumped the land count from 35 to 37. Still in the testing period, but I have decided that mana flooding is better than no mana at all. The deck has lost some aggressive qualities because of this. Realize that two nonland slots are just gone. Errmmaguursshhh!
I found a Sensei's Divining Top. And I didn't dish out money I'm so excited I have a EDH staple. I think I got a tear building up.
Strip Mine is another thing I aquired. Hammerheim is in here just for fun. Its going to be a placeholder for future lands. But for now, handle that flavor.
Also, Is anyone else excited for Theros?!?! Oh my goodness!! It is the first set I've seen in a long time that is just oozing with flavor. Hammer of Purphoros is definitely going in this deck. Hands down. Another haste outlet that can poop out tokens? Can their be anything more perfect?! I am also adding Purphoros himself. I know he hasn't been spoiled, but Marton needs a new member of the team. Ib has started eating all the cookies and Krenko is back to gambling. We need more transition! Urabrask is thinking to go to Theros to purify himself in the fire of Purphoros and finally get rid of his Phyrexian Oil, once and for all. That, right there, is flavor. I shall leave you all with this. Enjoy!
{T}: Put a token that's a copy of target nonlegendary creature you control onto the battlefield. That token has haste. Sacrifice it at the beginning of the next end step.
If you read his wording on his errata, the token sacrifices at the beginning of the end step. This means that if you use him at the endstep phase you get the copy to last through to the next end phase. This means that kiki will untap and you will still have the old token copy still if you activated it at the endstep before your turn.
Goblin Welder - dont forget it works on opponents artifacts too. Its hilarious to blow up their board position with this guy too.
The red god and his weapon, are both completely crazy for this style of deck. Its odd that the red god of all things seems to be one of the most powerful for the format. When is the last time red got one of the better cards in a cycle???? Like forever ago? I dont think his weapon is that amazing but another Fervor is still nice to have.

I can tell you're as excited for this set as I am. Purphoros has quite a price tag on him however I'm hoping to find one just floating in a binder. But it is now my quest to find a foil one!! I haven't seen many other good red cards. I think something nice would be:
Female Shaman 2R
Creature-Human Shaman
When * enters the battlefield, scry 2.
1/3
Is that too much to ask for? I would totally make room for her!
Update!!:
Found a copy of Mind's Eye. At this point, with all the adding of cards, I need some opinions if this list is still on the right track or if has become to clunky with staples. I'm gonna play with Marton tonight at Commander night, so we shall see how he performs in his first run in my new meta. Cross your fingers! Will report tomorrow. Also I am proxying Imperial Recruiter, since I cannot find a copy, nor afford to pay cash for one. Besides, my proxy is super pretty and awesome. Lets see how she rolls!
In other notes, thinking of bringing Extraplanar Lens back in the deck. I need to make it MUCH faster to race the control decks in this meta. May use more creatures. I am also considering Grip of Chaos. I need someone to explain the entire thought process and how to handle this card. I think if i played it I'd look like a total dweeb with a d20. The land count is also sitting at a comfy 36. Planning on leaving it that way. Let us see what tonight brings.

Purphoros - he does look like a really amazing add to the deck. I am looking forward to adding him. I also wouldn't underestimate his hammer as it is essentially Fervor with an extra ability (Even if the extra ability is bad).
Extraplanar Lens - I have considered adding it on several occasions. I think if I did add it, I would be very hesitant to play it out ahead of time. I think it would make for a good card to cast first as you try to go off though as its an unexpected jump in mana available not to mention counterspell fodder that might not hit your actual wincon. I don't know about casting it ahead of time though just because it does consume a land when you bring it out but it seems interesting and potentially good.
Grip of Chaos - the best way to handle it is with percentile dice. Using two of them you can cover 100 targets 3 of them can handle 1000 targets. Essentially the best way to handle this is to count all of people's permenants and determine what order to count their way through their permenants. Once it is established who has what chunks of numbers you just roll the dice until you get a number within the range of the number of targets. If say there is 70 targets then anything above a 70 on the percentile roll is a re-roll.
Cell phones often have random number generators as well which can handle this sort of things. Count the number of targets for an effect then just random generate a number within that range.
Fun fact with Grip of Chaos, Goblin Welder has two targets to his ability and jumps through the chaos :D. I also once attempted to kill a table of 4 with Vicious Shadows with Grip of Chaos in play. It was an epic game... It didnt work but it was still epic as I played out my entire hand and activated like 30 triggers of random targeting shadows lol. The dang pillowfort player saved them all.... annoying.
If you plan on using the ability at all, the Hammer's nice. If you're not going to be saccing your lands, stay away from it. It's slightly harder to cast because of the double red and it dies to more removal.
I agree as far as if you were considering one or the other. If it were to make my list it would probably be in addition to all the other haste outlets I already run.

Oh, sure. As haste goes, it's definitely one of the better options you have. Especially if you want more than just goblins to get haste. Which you probably do, because Marton ain't a goblin.
I am actually really considering cutting Akroma's Memorial for it considering most of the reason I run the memorial is so that I can have haste. Its so expensive though that its really hard to multi cast in a turn. It has a lot of other pros but it also gets targeted fairly heavily for being lolz on its abilities.

Without the really absurd colorless sources it's not that amazing. Pro-red can be annoying, but really, all the other specs are relevant. Pro black is pretty nice. Flying is really good.
If the other abilities aren't doing anything for you, I imagine it's pretty lackluster.
The main purpose of it also is mainly for the haste. Its so expensive to cast though that it often needs to be cast the turn before or wait until crazy mana to be played. It also doesn't last long as its an obvious removal target.
I really like it but other than the fact that it gives me haste, the evasion is decently ok but I generally swarm out hard enough that it doesnt matter.

Oh boy, two mono-red Titans dishing it out on my thread this day just got so much better.
I agree with the two stands on Akroma's Memorial. I mean the evasion and pro colors are awesome, trample helps punch through chump blockers, and so on. But at 7 mana, you really cant speed off of it the turn you play it. So i suppose the question is, Is the extra stats worth the mana cost and speed?
And i didn't play commander tonight because I got in a car crash on my way there fuuuuuuuuuuuuu.
"On my signal, unleash hell!"

Memory Jar with things like Buried Ruin, Goblin Wielder, and Trading Post we can actually recover a lot of things including the Jar itself which is fun to abuse.
Viashino Heretic you already have Vandalblast and Shattering Spree in your list both of which I feel are much better. Do you need this as well?
Snow lands but no snow support? I would try to get Mouth of Ronom in there at least if you do have snow lands. Still, snow lands are pimp as Marton is from Ice Age :).
More ramp, more draw in my opinion. I run mine sort of as a glass cannon which I know isn't for everyone so I wont bother nit picking about answers. I am just sort of an all in kinda guy with my Marton list.

Main Decks
Diaochan, Iroas, God of Victory, Kaalia, Marton, Ulasht, Volrath,
Kaervek, Prossh, Titania
Amusing or Themed
Progenitus
Pauper Guildmages
Azorius Boros Dimir Golgari Gruul Izzet Korozda
Orzhov Rakdos Rix Maadi Selesyna Simic Skarrg Zameck
I also play Weiss Schwarz, Chaos, Vanguard and Wixoss.
Accel World, Angel Beats, Familiar of Zero, Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet, Guilty Crown, Kill La Kill, Robotics;Notes, Sword Art Online.
Chaos Partners
Arpeggio of Blue Steel: Iona, Kirishima, Kongou.
Dangan Ronpa: Asahina, Togami.
Freezing: Vibration: Chiffon, Satelizer.
Vanguard Clans Favoured
Angel Feather, Dark Irregulars, Genesis, Neonecter, Pale Moon, Shadow Paladins, Tachikaze.
Wixoss - Just trial decks for now!
***

I'll do some testing and report soon

Drop Moggcatcher, pass turn.
End of my last opponents turn, Moggcatcher into Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker
Kiki copies Moggcatcher who goes and gets Krenko, Mob Boss. Krenko turns sideways for 2 tokens (4 goblins at this point assuming no prior board).

Enjoy!

The dang pillowfort player saved them all.... annoying.

If the other abilities aren't doing anything for you, I imagine it's pretty lackluster.
I really like it but other than the fact that it gives me haste, the evasion is decently ok but I generally swarm out hard enough that it doesnt matter.
