Default The Purple "Timeshifted" Symbol Frequently Asked Questions Thread

The past few days, the questions about the purple expansion symbol have been unsurmountable, but mainly just the same questions over and over and over and over.....

This is the Purple Expansion Symbol FAQ made from what we know.

Q: What is the purple expansion symbol?

A: The purple expansion symbol is on a 121 card subset of reprints, such as Akroma, Angel of Wrath and Sengir Autocrat. They are officially called "Timeshifted Cards."

Q: Wait, a 121 card set? I thought these were in Time Spiral!

A: They are. However, they have their own set numbering system so, technically, Time Spiral is only 301 cards, but with a 121 card reprint subset.

Q: Ok cool. So these cards come in packs right?

A: They will be in Booster Packs, Tournament Packs, and Preconstructed Decks. There will be one per Booster Pack, replacing a common, and three per Tournament Pack.

Q: So, what rarity are they, because there seems to be just one purple symbol.

A: The purple symbol is one static rarity that doesnt change, even if one of the cards used to be rare. There isn't purple-gold, purple-silver and soforth. It is now just considered a bonus rarity. They replace a common in the booster packs, so there are 10 commons, 3 uncommons, a rare and a bonus.

Q: Wouldn't it make sense if they replaced Pro Player cards? Those things sucked!

A: It has been confirmed by Wizards of the Coast, as well as by product shots, that Pro Player cards will be in Time Spiral.

Q: What about foils then? Will they be replacing those? Can they be foil?

A: They will not replace foils. They can come in foil.

Q: Hm, looks like the only solution will be to have 16 cards packs.

A: Nope. We have pictures as well as card counts of the booster packs. There are 15 cards in each booster pack of this set.

Q: Sounds great. So this means I can beat down with Shadowmage Infiltrator in my Dimir deck come Standard Champs right?

A: Yes. These cards will be legal in everything Time Spiral is legal in. This has been confirmed by the rules insert found in TS tournament packs.

Q: Well, what about card backs then? Will they have normal Magic card backs?

A: Yes, they will.

Q: Wait a second- You guys are liars! These cards don't appear in the Orb of Insight!

A: Timeshifted Cards don't appear in the Orb of Insight. This is because they have their own set of card numbers, and technically aren't in the Time Spiral set, just distributed throughout the product somehow. Sneaky Wizards!

Q: Hey! These use the old card frame! Are you sure that they're real?

A: Yes. All of the reprints in this subset of sorts have the old, pre Eighth Edition, card face.
(Recently a high number of troll accounts have been registered just to call the cards fake because of this. Ignore them. The cards are real.)

Q:Oh, so does that mean that we get all of the weird old rules text on really old reprints?

A: No. All of the cards feature updated wording to what the official wording will be after the set is released. Some cards have also had changes to areas of the card, mainly in creature type, that will also be changed in the official wordings of every card once the set has been released.

Q: How old are the cards that they're bringing back going to be? Getting reprints from Coldsnap would be really lame!

A: All of the reprints in this subset will be before Mirrodin.

Q: So, do we have scans of these purple cards?

A: Yes, we have several. Here is a scan of four of them.

Q: Are you sure those are real? Your scans are pretty fuzzy, a sure sign of Photoshop!

A: Yes. Its just the way the pictures of the cards were taken and uploaded. I assure you, these cards are real.

Q: Cool. So where can I find the partial purple spoiler?

A: Until it is merged in with the main spoiler, you can find it here.

Hopefully this will clear up any confusion. More questions and answers will be added if they become commonly asked. If you post on this thread, I will delete your post and modify this post if applicable.
