**Accessible through a small and lightly guarded root tunnel on the southern side of the tree, the Oifig an Tsirriam is the center of Greevan's police force, its short-term jail, and also the headquarters for the Secret Police.
The waiting room is large and circular, with a ceiling high enough to encompass a large equestrian statue in the middle of the floor. A legend at the base explains that this is a statue of Roderick Cualaigne, the first Sheriff of Greevan and reportedly ancestor of several of the foremost families of Greevan. The rest of the room, however, is plainly decorated and somewhat dimly lit. Lining the edge of the room are a few dozen individual chairs, most of which are usually occupied by job-seekers, recently arrested petty criminals, and other typical denizens of such places. Opposite the entrance stands a high stone desk, behind which sits a large, bored-looking Garr by the name of Karlach Kor-leen. He is responsible for keeping the peace in the room, on the rare occasions when that is needed, and can also give directions to other offices in the Oifig.**

Be aware of singing as if you were half dead,
or half asleep:
but lift your voice with strength.
Be no more afraid of your voice now,
nor more ashamed of its being heard,
than when you sang the songs of Satan.
**Binxy made his way into the office, a bit put out. Didn't like forests, never did. Oh sure, they could be beautiful and they reminded him of home, but too much cover for too many monsters. Plus, they reminded him of home. Cut it all down, as far as Binxy was concerned. Put up a Forceball court or something.
Nevertheless, Binxy moved to present himself to the man on duty or wait otherwise wait his turn.**
**A bizarrely crab-like carriage parks itself near the tunnel. A dishevelled man emerges from within, leaving the machine in the hands of his co-pilot (a monkey frog) and his banker. Mostly his banker - the snooty tuxedo'd beast was always happy to make an example of the common riffraff.
Upon entering the tunnel Yack finds himself behind Binxy.**
**The garr turned his head toward them and, without altering his bored expression, raised an eyebrow.**
Karlach - "Yeah?"

**Binxy favored Yack with the glance of an eye. If he'd been able to see the disheveled, apparently bone fetish-having man exit a crab carriage driven by a monkey frog, he might have decided to use both eyes.**
**Yack's passing interest becomes a more serious eyeing when the Jakari notes his intent. He looked... potentially okay if a bit pinkish. Why were his hands so clean?**
Karlach - "Mmph. Right. His Highness the Lord Marshall keeps a collection of stuffed monsters in his suites. Used to be he'd hunt them himself, but he's too... anyway, he got it into his mind that he wants a harpy, only he knows why. We have a little bit of information on them, just enough to get started..."
**He brought out a thin leather binder, with a couple sheets of parchment sticking out.**
Karlach - "...but nothing too solid. You're also entitled to earplugs if you want them."

**Binxy grunted, taking the binder and flipping through it.**
Binxy - "So what, we're killin' a harpy so some honey kisser can shove it in next to his chamber pot? There's no bad reason to hunt a monster, but that sure ain't a honey kissin' good one."
The first page was a general description of harpies and their reputed characteristics, including size, appearance, and the sound of their music.
The second was a map of the western Greevan Forest, including the Swamp. Binxy noted that significant portions of it were fairly low on detail; it was clear that the elves didn't go into the swamp very often. A single elven road ran through The northern third, heading into the west.
The third was an excerpt from a book, all in Elvish.
The fourth was a series of anecdotes about harpies from around the city. One stood out in particular: the Teach den Doiléir had something it claimed was a harpy's foot.**
Karlach - "You wouldn't be the first hunters to refuse."

**The swamp was roughly sickle-shaped, much thicker on the southern end than the northern end, which tapered into broad marshes. A river seemed to originate in and run through much of the territory; though its exact twists and turns were somewhat obscure, it had many branches. In the southern third there was a feature labelled "Spring: Good water" and a something called "Beraduin's Point" that looked like it might be a rock outcropping. Approximately in the middle of the swamp, on the river, there was a dot marked "Ruins of Leythan."**

**The documents gave some basic biographical information for Lorn; elf, fairly elderly, lived in the Native Quarter his entire life, worked in the Archives for nearly fifty years. No family, no known friends, though he spent a fair bit of time in An Chartlann.
The second document was a list of books he had stolen. Some were fiction, some were on potions, one was a book of Greevan's history, volume seven.**
