Today's article is the next step on the YMTC 4 process. There is a poll for the artwork options for the new card. The description options for the artist to recreate are as following:
[Necromancy Ascendant]
Color: Black spell
Location: An ancient cemetery
Action: We see an old cemetery, but there are ornate stone sarcophagi instead of dug graves. The lids of several sarcophagi have been moved, exposing the rotting corpses inside. A dark, purplish-black mist rises out the mouths and eyes of the corpses like dry ice. It billows out onto the ground, corrupting the cemetery grass.
Focus: The necromantic mist
Mood: There is no peace in this rest.
[Waste Not]
Color: Black Spell
Location: A nasty trash heap outside a small settlement
Action: We see a RAG MAN, a hunched and withered humanoid figure who appears to be held together by frayed ropes and worn leather straps. The being is standing triumphantly atop a heap of bones, broken armor and weapons, and other less identifiable trash. It is holding up a skull in one hand; the other hand clutches a filthy sack that is bulging with "treasures." A glow of purplish power surrounds the Rag Man and the skull.
Focus: The glowing figure.
Mood: Creepy yet eco-friendly.
[Season of the Lich]
Color: Black Spell
Location: A misty clearing between withered trees
Action: This is a mood piece, set at night. The background of the image is an enormous full moon which touches the horizon... very bright, but slightly ominous in its tint. Most of the image is in silhouette against the moon's light, but in the foreground we can see enough to know that we are in a dense pumpkin patch to give us a sense that this is a specific time of year. In the center of the image is a figure, very tall and impossibly thin, who is seen in hard silhouette against the moon. His posture is regal, his face slightly upturned to the night.
As the pumpkin shapes become more back-lit we realize that some of the curved silhouettes aren't pumpkins at all, but are the hunched backs of several zombies who are starting to rise from among the patch.
Focus: The scene
Mood: "In the first hour of the third day of the seventh season, dim your lamps. Hush your infants. And lock your doors."
[Necromancer's Call]
Color: Black spell
Location: A field of corpses on a blasted wasteland.
Action: A necromancer stands with her arms outstretched. Ghostly energy is coursing up from the bodies that are strewn about. The energy converges around her where it begins to turn purplish. Maybe in the background we can see silhouettes of zombies rising out of the ground.
Focus: The energy rising out of the corpses and the ground.
Mood: Supernatural, eerie
[Liliana's Wake]
Color: Black Spell
Location: Outdoors, during a colorful dusk
Action: Liliana wades toward camera through murky waist-deep water. Her body language is graceful and confidant, there is a smirk on her face. Her hands are outstretched just enough to agitate the surface of the water on both sides of her as she wades. Behind her two trails of zombies have just begun to rise from the water and follow her, as if awakened by the ripples caused by her hands.
Focus: The scene
Mood: Placid. Pretty. And frightening.
I voted for Necromancy Ascendant. I though it might be the best looking one, perhaps similar to what graffdiger's cage looks like.
I voted for Season of the Lich because first thing that popped into my mind was Full Moon's Rise. But I am thinking a moon that takes up the whole card with this one.
I was sold after only the first line:
"Location: Outdoors, during a colorful dusk"
The black cards that just look like a boring cemetery from Diablo 3 are just that, boring. Besides, there have been some really good art relating to Liliana, hopefully this will be good too
One of these entries says "Liliana" on it and will obviously win. One of them features a pumpkin patch, is super interesting and different, but will not win (despite my vote). :/
For what it's worth, the opposite of evergreen is "deciduous" so I suggest we start using that from now on to refer to shroud, banding, islandhome, etc.
Having Liliana in the description ruled the last one out immediately for me. Didn't even finish reading it. I don't want my spells tied to specific planeswalkers. Definitely liked Season of the Lich. I tried to pick the description that had the most classic feel to it, since ideally YMTC entries will see play for a while.
People should vote for Waste Not as a permanent reminder to not waste these opportunity's. I am very curious if the card as is will end up as the finished product.
Bad card is Bad.

i think it would be more like Bad Moon( from Duel Decks: Garruk vs. Liliana )

Aw, I really wish I had voted this way too. I actually feel dirty continuing to care about this crap.

I went for Season of the Lich because I really love the song Season of the Witch (by Donovan), and I have really loved all the cards with big moons in them so far. I would love it if the name stuck and I could sing "Must be the season of the Liiiiich, yea..." when I played it.
I also like Waste Not because it showed the concept of each version of the treasures. The rest just showed zombies, but Waste Not shows the concept of if they discard a land or non-creature

Season is still in the lead... On our slice of the internet. I'm silently praying thats a good sigh.
Don't worry, like everything else that's terrible about this card the art will end up being generic Liliana art as casuals love planeswalkers... Might as well make everything terrible about it.
Voted for Waste Not because it's the only one that shows more than just necromancy. Season of the Lich and Liliana's Wake are close behind it and battling for place 2 though.
I think the idea of scrounging through the trash and reclaiming discarded items and creature parts fits the idea of how the enchantment effects the game.
That, and you know what they say. If Wizards started shipping $100 bills in boosters tomorrow, people would scream and cry and whine that they were folded the wrong way.
I voted for 'Waste Not' because I think that it fit the mechanics of the card better than any of the other art proposals.
The other artworks tend to make you think only about zombies, but 'Waste Not' puts the emphasis on finding a use for ANY bit of trash that your opponent throws away.

Season of the Lich
Necromancer's Call
Liliana's Wake
Season of the Lich too cool but too cliche
Necromancer's Call sonds nice but like Liliana's Wake i don't think it has the feel for the card
