Why openly declare you are not going to lie? That should be a given if you are town. So you were either considering playing a gambit or the statement itself is a gambit.

I won't lie about anything except where it concerns my alignment.

I understand your stance on Generic (although I'm not sure it's voteworthy), but this question to Asenion seems a bit of a misrep. Zinger was the one who "started" the discussion about it by putting an unfamiliar acronym in the thread.

@iRebel
You are relating this generic to MTGS (scum)generic. I don't see the correlation. Generic is making more sense currently than he usually does. Care to elaborate?
@Emocakes
Your question towards asenion about policy lynching is terrible. Do you not understand what policy lynching is and when to do it? This fluff question combined with your overreaction of generic makes you look scummy as hell.
Ok Irebel, explain to me what he means when he says he won't lie about anything but his alignment?
Since you want to ride to his rescue, you can answer that one on his behalf too.
Let me just switch accounts real quick.
... Oh wait. Can't. Since I'm, you know, not Zinger.
I have no idea why the policy is the way it is. I did ask him for an explanation. Maybe you'll get your answer when I get mine?
I don't see how calling you on something that's fishy constitutes "riding to his rescue" when I have my own reservations (as demonstrated by my questioning) about him.
@ hawk: ScumGeneric played a good game of smoke and mirrors in MTGS. So far we've seen:
- Generic scrutinises Zinger for a tl;dr summary of his NLP link (if you read it, you'll notice nothing awkward about the way he phrased anything, imho)
- Then poses a question to me about Zinger that only Zinger can answer
- Then accuses me of riding to his defence because I pointed out something I didn't like and found fishy (which, I'll ask again: isn't that the point of this game?)
I'm just not buying that Generic is acting town so far.

Alright, I can see that. Personally I just brushed it off because I didn't think the NLP thing was relevant to the game. Not to mention, a little research shows he states it at the beginning of all his games.
Am I the only one who bothered to look to see if he had brought it up before?
I also don't like your "what is your stance" question; it feels...crafted. Why didn't you just say "how does a policy lynch fit in with a town mindset"?
That's just how I talk. I don't think I've ever used the term "town mindset".
Your question towards asenion about policy lynching is terrible. Do you not understand what policy lynching is and when to do it? This fluff question combined with your overreaction of generic makes you look scummy as hell.
How is it terrible exactly?
IMO, I don't think there is ever a time to policy lynch. If a player is outrageously disruptive then I could see asking for a modkill, but policy lynching is just a way for scum to get a free kill. Policy lynch wagons can't be analyzed the way normal wagons can and basically waste a day and a flip.
I also, don't like the way you say it makes me "look scummy as hell", but doesn't make me scum.
@ hawk: ScumGeneric played a good game of smoke and mirrors in MTGS. So far we've seen:

I agree that Generic is good at smoke and mirrors as scum but I think that Zinger's NLP was weird and scummy. Generic was right to attack him because of it.
First off, town shouldn't have to say, Hey guys I'm gonna tell the truth cause I'm town! The only motive for doing this is to try and bolster town cred. Town telling the truth should be a given because Town don't have a reason to lie unless they are gambitting. This coupled with the slip of he will only lie about his role when he has no reason to as town makes him scum.
Secondly, I don't understand why you and emo voted for generic when he had valid reasons where as asenion just wants a policy lynch on zinger.
I won't lie about anything except where it concerns my alignment.
Please do explain that one from a town mindset.
What part of "policy established and referred to since 2011" don't you understand? If he's consistently applied this to every game he's ever played in since then, it's 100% null. (I'm pretty sure he's mentioned it in the three games he's signed up for on this site, but neither of the other games have questioned him.)
What I don't understand is why a player would adopt such a policy in the first place. Waiting for Zinger to explain.
I also don't like your "what is your stance" question; it feels...crafted. Why didn't you just say "how does a policy lynch fit in with a town mindset"?
That's just how I talk. I don't think I've ever used the term "town mindset".

This coupled with the slip of he will only lie about his role when he has no reason to as town makes him scum.
There are plenty of situations where it's correct, as town, to lie. That's why Lynch All Liars isn't a reliable strategy, especially dangerous in endgame.
I won't lie about anything except where it concerns my alignment.
Where is the IF in that? He wont lie about anything EXCEPT where it concerns his alignment. There in plain text.
I would assert that we're both taking implicit information away from his statement. It sounds like you're hearing:
"I won't lie about anything in this game except where it concerns my alignment."
I'm hearing:
"I won't lie about anything in any game except where it concerns my alignment."
As this seems to be policy/SOP for him (as demonstrated by the other games he's in on this site), I feel that "in any game" is the more logical assumption.
The EXCEPT logically leads to the IF. It's a reversal of the statement. "I won't lie except regarding my alignment." == "If I lie, it will be regarding my alignment."
This feels like the kind of argument that scum are happy to sit back and eat popcorn while they're amused. (What is the code for that smilie...?)
Either way if we get away from the so called scumslip, I still don't understand what motive he would have for stating the NLP other than trying to score town cred.
Hang on, have you just included something that i posted AFTER you voted for me as part of your case for voting for me?
Okay.
Hawk asked why, I outlined all reasons. I don't see the issue here.
No he didnt, he gave a tl;dr today. And he said in it that he wouldnt lie about ANYTHING EXCEPT his alignment. WHY would town need to lie about alignment irebel, thats the question i asked and thats the one you are avoiding by saying only zinger can answer which isnt true. Your opinion reflects on your vote, if you cant answer it your vote is tactical and not based on a real reason.
His tl;dr is a summation of a thread from TWO YEARS ago. If you had read it, you'd understand this.
And that is NOT the question you asked me. You originally asked:
explain to me what he means when he says he won't lie about anything but his alignment
To which I replied: Maybe you'll get your answer when I get mine?
To answer your current question, which is not the same as the first question: I don't have the necessary experience under my belt to answer that question in depth. The best I could give you is some hairbrained scenario.
Nice try on the question switcheroo though.
Really? You saw me vote on a scumslip early in day 1 in MTGS? And since this is the first game i ahve played with you since that game i did wonder if you would do what shark and hawk did.
I was mafia once, i won us the game after you screwed up your own play, get over it. Bear in mind i saw your scum play in that game, you sucked then too.
That sure comes across as a personal attack, which is completely unnecessary. And if it isn't then I would ask you monitor your tone, as it's hard to discern just text.
And no, what I saw was you finding an opening and blowing it out of proportion.
Hawk:

Pray tell, what is your opinion of Asenion re: NLP. I don't think one can get more opportunistic than policy lynching.
It boils down to this: the way NLP is set/up makes it impossible to catch a scum Zinger because he wants us to be ok with him not explaining himself or answering questions that are inconvenient.
I will Unvote for the moment, but the first time he uses this as an excuse to not play the game, I plan to policy lynch him.

Your question towards asenion about policy lynching is terrible. Do you not understand what policy lynching is and when to do it? This fluff question combined with your overreaction of generic makes you look scummy as hell.

Am I the only one who bothered to look to see if he had brought it up before?
That's just how I talk. I don't think I've ever used the term "town mindset".
Who elses? iRebel's RVS Vote or Asension's almost equally bad vote? I'm pretty sure I expressed my displeasure with it as well.
Did you even read his linked thread? It's the TL;DR version of it. You don't seem to pay much attention do you?
How is it terrible exactly?
IMO, I don't think there is ever a time to policy lynch. If a player is outrageously disruptive then I could see asking for a modkill, but policy lynching is just a way for scum to get a free kill. Policy lynch wagons can't be analyzed the way normal wagons can and basically waste a day and a flip.
I also, don't like the way you say it makes me "look scummy as hell", but doesn't make me scum.

I'll come back to this after Asenion posts.
There are plenty of situations where it's correct, as town, to lie. That's why Lynch All Liars isn't a reliable strategy, especially dangerous in endgame.
I didn't see him declare that. I saw him declare that if he lies, it'll be about his alignment. There's an important distinction there.

Hawk asked why, I outlined all reasons. I don't see the issue here.
His tl;dr is a summation of a thread from TWO YEARS ago. If you had read it, you'd understand this.
And that is NOT the question you asked me. You originally asked:
To which I replied: Maybe you'll get your answer when I get mine?
To answer your current question, which is not the same as the first question: I don't have the necessary experience under my belt to answer that question in depth. The best I could give you is some hairbrained scenario.
Nice try on the question switcheroo though.
That sure comes across as a personal attack, which is completely unnecessary. And if it isn't then I would ask you monitor your tone, as it's hard to discern just text.
And no, what I saw was you finding an opening and blowing it out of proportion.
Hawk:
I voted for Generic because I felt his vote was extremely weak and opportunistic; the fact Emo and I voted at the same time is a coincidence.

This.
If he would consider lying about his alignment, why would he even mention the NLP to begin with? Lying about your alignment would kinda defeat the purpose of a pledge to not lie....
Previous Mafia Experience:
Mafia aligned: 2/0 -100%
Town aligned: 4/3 - 57%
1. This is obviously something he has been at for a while.
2. It doesn't mean anything since it isn't something new.
So this whole discussion is null.
Generic on the other hand...
The vote and attack is very opportunistic. And once explained on his misconceptions he is just digging down deeper on it being scummy despite evidence otherwise.
Opportunistic vote, bad attack, worse response, the mindset of scum.

NLP=null.
Pray tell, what is your opinion of Asenion re: NLP. I don't think one can get more opportunistic than policy lynching.

I will Unvote for the moment, but the first time he uses this as an excuse to not play the game, I plan to policy lynch him.
