I saw this guy before and just haven't sat down to put together a list for him. Essentially, it's a Mono-Red Control deck oriented around doing a lot of damage to creatures, hating nonbasics, and eventually swinging with a very burly man to kill opponents quickly. Even with nothing but basic lands out when you cast him, he's a 6/6 (7/7 when untapped), and only gets bigger with more land, artifacts, and creatures in play. He is completely jank and outclassed by Godo, Bandit Warlord, but that's part of his charm, and aiming for a political move with him, as old, obscure legendaries no one uses, especially a mono-Red one, tend to get ignored in favor of beating down that RUG player going nuts or some other splashy threat.
The last thing your opponents see before they get ripped apart.

I kid, though; the comic version of him in Knightfall was pretty good, and the new movie interpretation of Bane at least fits his strength and smarts. He was never a stupid villain.
What, how have I never heard of this guy? I love your general
EDIT: after two second of searching I found an obscure picture of him in a game called MTG battlegrounds, what?
And found that he has a pet card : Desperate Gambit

EDIT02:
That's part of his charm, as I've never seen anyone build him and he's been on my radar for a while as something that would be sneakier than some of the other Red generals.
No one knows of him, and his ability throws off combat math so easy for everyone involved since instants are important too in this deck.
Even without an equipment he can easily hit 7/7 while other permanents are untapped for that sweet 3 hit kill, and even something like Lightning Greaves gives him an extra +1/+1 since they're untapped along with the other benefits they give. He's better than expected for how little I've been playing with him so far.

The permanent creaters are there to make Eldrazi spawn, swing with Maraxus, then sac into an X spell.
The Scythe is for a very specific reason: since he does get smaller when tapping for mana, he will at least be beefy enough to survive Earthquakes. Making him into a 2-hit or 1-hit kill is just icing on the cake.
As for Warp World, too random for my tastes as I always have the worst luck with that card. If I was going to go with a more token build, I'd gone with Márton Stromgald, and he's already got enough love.

I think you might misunderstood me, I like the permanent creaters and offered more options like Myr battlesphere. The reason I brought up Warp World is because decks that abuse that card use many cards like, Emrakul's Hatcher and Myr Battlesphere to generate more card advantage. In here it provides pump for Maraxus. There's no reason to actually play warp world. I'm not a fan of the card either, I don't even like winning with it.

In that case, Thopter Assembly would be better, as it is cheaper and also can keep providing bodies.
Another build of him could totally go tokens with a small bit of unblockability so he sneaks on through for huge swings. However, I'd rather not be dependent on too many permanents to keep him so big as wipes are quite common, and I run a few in here too. It's just a difference in playstyles, as I love the power that instants and sorceries can bring to bear in destroying other people's win cons while your own swings in. I looked at some of the token makers, and other than making tokens, I don't have anything to do with them. No sacrifice effects, no pumps, no triggers, nothing but Bane. Besides, I've already done that quite a lot with Teysa 1.0, and I want a different feel with this deck.
I'm glad other people are interested in this guy though; he never got much love in EDH. I'll be playing him more on Cockatrice and seeing how well he fares. The build might change; I know I've gone through many edits of other decks before.

He's frigging fabulous. Akroma's Memorial seems good on him too.
EDIT: Strata scythe also seems like overkill doesn't it? Rather play more permanent creaters like Emrakul's Hatcher, there's Myr Battlesphere and probably more. Warp World decks could be of info.

Mana Crypt, Chrome Mox, Mox Diamond, Mox Opal : 0-drop rocks help you accelerate, are all relatively easy to pay for, and make your general larger.
Gauntlet of Might : It drops a turn earlier than Gauntlet of Power, and that's really good.

It's definitely good. I'm just trying to keep my decks not too absurdly expensive so I can put them together irl.
I do need more enchantment hate so something will come out for Spine of Ish Sah, maybe Phyrexia's Core and All is Dust though that does have a big pricetag.
