All was well on Sesame Street. People and muppets alike lived in peace, and it was a wonderful era of fun and learning. For some.
One day Gordon was out for his morning run. It was just like any other morning on Sesame Street; quiet, peaceful, and cool. Gordon was enjoying himself, but then something out of the corner of his eye caused him to stop dead in his tracks. Was that a knife on the ground? He moved towards it. It was positioned at the head of an alleyway, glinting in the morning sun. He got closer. Yes, it was a knife! And not any old kitchen knife. This was clearly a weapon designed to harm others. Gordon was immediately concerned. Why would this be on Sesame Street, a place of happiness and friendship? He stooped down to pick it up. As he did so, something else caught his eye down the alleyway. Another glint, redish against the left wall. It was hard to see what exactly it was in the darkened, dirty walkway. Gordon looked around, snatched up the knife, concealed it in his pocket, and slowly proceeded to advance down the corridor to investigate.
He got closer, and a stench confirmed his dreaded suspicion: blood. There was blood on the wall. In fact, the blood had been written on the wall. It was a message. Struggling to read the long paragraphs of misspelled text in the dimly-lit alley Gordon finally interpreted it after several minutes: a muppet had wrote it, and this muppet wanted all humans to leave Sesame Street. This muppet believed that Sesame Street was for muppets only; humans did not belong. This muppet was also threatening to capture those who did not comply.
Gordon was shocked. He raced back to his house in fear of his own safety. How could anyone do this? Everyone was getting along so nicely. Why would a muppet want the humans to leave?
After some time, when everyone on Sesame Street was awake, Gordon spread the news. Everyone was stunned. Nobody knew what to do; was the threat serious? Should people actually leave their homes? After long amounts of discussion, the humans decided to stay. They doubted any of their friends would ever consider doing anything so malicious.
Two weeks passed without a problem. Then, 16 days after the incident, things were unusually still. It was nearing noon, but Sesame Street seemed to be lacking population. Suddenly, it was realized; all the humans were gone! The only ones out and about were muppets! Frantically the muppets ran to their human-friends' houses. Nobody was home. Every single man, woman, boy and girl was gone.
This was serious. All of the muppets on Sesame Street got together to figure out what to do. Someone pointed out "it must have been one of us or some group of us in this very meeting that did it! The message was written in muppet handwriting!" A frenzy of commotion and panic occurred. How could this be happening? Then someone else said "we have to all think about this and figure out who did it so we can get our friends back. Panic won't do anything." The other muppets agreed and started to calm down. For the next few weeks they would all get together and try to figure out who did it.
At first it was slow going. Nobody wanted to accuse any of their friends. Progress simply wasn't happening. But then, muppets started being captured. Each night, one was found to be missing. Apparently the culprits were not pleased with everyone's determination to get the humans back.
After the continuation of very little progress for nearly a month, only 12 muppets of the entire population remained. They knew they had to do something, and quick. Accusations had to start happening, even if they were pointed at friends. It was time to get down and dirty.

The following are what you CANNOT claim:

You are Snuffy, Town Vanilla.
Abilities: You may vote during the day.
Win Condition: You win when all members of the mafia (bad muppets) are dead.
This game is a Basic; it has normal Day and Night phases with normal lynches in the day and normal mafia nights. The roles in this game are simple to understand as is the layout. There are no neutral roles; just town and mafia.
Twelve muppets (non-humans) sat together on a barren Sesame Street. Outside help was impossible; nobody knows the way to Sesame Street unless they are already there. None of the muppets wanted to accuse each other, but the previous day they had decided that starting now they had to begin pointing fingers or there would be nobody left but the bad muppets. But how could they? What basis did they have to go on? What if they concluded that a muppet was bad but that muppet was actually innocent? They knew that even on Sesame Street the punishment for a crime so terrible was death. They had accuse wisely and with the utmost caution, using a majority vote system.
And then, suddenly, without warning, the first accusation was thrown.
-----
It is now Day 1. You may post. (Also be sure to read the rules. Really, do it.)
I jumped on him because I believe he (Seppel) is lying. Is it normal for a cop to have a pre-game read?
The vote on Pheonix was just to get people moving.
Also I don't want to be lynch number one, but if it comes to it fine, I'll see Seppel go down day 2 because of his poor opening play. I know what I am. No major loss to town if I do get lyched. Role Claim: Vanilla.
I jumped on him because I believe he (Seppel) is lying. Is it normal for a cop to have a pre-game read?
You don't know that he's lying? You only "believe" that he is?
And you want to know if it's normal for a cop to have a pregame read? Wouldn't you know that Seppel did not pregame cop you if you were town? (Because if you were town and he had copped you, he would not have said you are scum.)
Also I don't want to be lynch number one, but if it comes to it fine, I'll see Seppel go down day 2 because of his poor opening play. I know what I am. No major loss to town if I do get lyched. Role Claim: Vanilla.
Already admitting defeat. Literally not even half the game has checked into the thread yet and only 2 besides yourself have commented on the situation, and you are already claiming and moping about being the lynch.
I don't think Karn is scum, and he has a point. Instead of Shockwave saying, "Seppel is lying, I am town", he says, "Seppel is lying, he doesn't have an N0 cop shot". I think Karn is onto something.
True. Not once did I say I was town. Bad play on my part.
I am town.
Also I am still curious about your pre-game cop claim Seppel. And I ask this question not only for an answer myself, but for each of you to ponder as well, is it normal for a basic game role to have two abilities?
Though I must admit flavor wise if two muppets were to be paired as Masons it would be Big Bird and Snuffle.
@Shockwave, Seppel is assuredly not a N0 cop. Also, no one if Snuffle because that was the person listed as the example role PM. (I haven't been in a game yet where the role PM was an actual role.)
Sure, I'll be replaced before cantripmaster, Phoenix Sun Rise, or Rodemy, none of whom have deigned to even show up yet.
And Karn, sXe, and fadeblue's activity isn't much better than my own.
I'm somewhat confused as to what made you all go for Karn.
No one seemed as bothered when ISO nabbed Void on Void's first post back in Deitriptychos, and the situation doesn't seem much different here.
I can't tell if Generic is serious or if this is the usual (often-times belated) RVS KarnVote. @Generic: Can you state whether you're serious or not?
And Seppel is being Seppel baiting for reactions. I find it odd that he chose to jump to me after getting such a good catch on shockwave (as I detailed earlier) - but I wouldn't be surprised if he was just once again fishing for reaction by voting me.
Raptor naked barnvoted me and immediately tried to tie me someone else. It's a chainsaw defense of shockwave without directly talking about the situation.
So Raptor and Shockwave are at the bottom of my list.
I jumped on him because I believe he (Seppel) is lying. Is it normal for a cop to have a pre-game read?
If I did not make it clear already, look at what he says here.
He "believe"s Seppel is lying about being a pre-game cop. He doesn't say anything akin to: "I know you're wrong, thus you're not a pre-game cop." Which is the reaction I'd have.
What really does it for me is how Shockwave questions and gives in to the option of there actually being a pregame cop. In town!Shockwave's mind there should not be even a possibility that Seppel is telling the truth.
And after that, in basically admitting defeat, he claims Vanilla (with hardly any votes on him) and complains about being lynched (again, with one (two?) people on him) - all while saying he's not a big loss to town and half-heartedly telling us to lynch Seppel on Day 2.
Okay, I admit again, bad move not calling a definitive on the cop faking. More I think about it, probably was a RVS vote looking for a reaction. But I am not sure.
Don't think a claim is needed day one for Seppel.
I stand by my role claim. At best right now can try to get some discussion rolling.
I'm not sure what to think of you Sir Karn, but pointing out poor plays feels a neutral pushing possibly towards town move at best. LnGrrrR does something along the same lines pointing out my not claiming town.
One thing does have me curious though... Seppel says Generic is town. No reason given. Is this his normal town play or other meta reason? Or is it something solid?
Also I don't want to be lynch number one, but if it comes to it fine, I'll see Seppel go down day 2 because of his poor opening play. I know what I am. No major loss to town if I do get lyched. Role Claim: Vanilla.
On this site, at least, it's traditional to wait to claim until you have enough votes to be at L-2 (2 votes from being lynched). Claiming like this from anyone with experience would be seen as defeatism. Coming from someone who's likely encountering Seppel for the first time? Not terribly shocking. Most first encounters with Seppel result in player seppuku, but he grows on you after a while.

Already admitting defeat. Literally not even half the game has checked into the thread yet and only 2 besides yourself have commented on the situation, and you are already claiming and moping about being the lynch.
You are an interesting prospect for this game shockwave, how many games have you played on mtgs? If you have done examples it would be helpful cos right now you read scummy with the point lngrrrr raised followed by trigger happy voting... And then to request examples that might negate your own vote reasoning, all due to misinterpreting my joke?
Not reading the OP? Acceptable. Not reading the thread? Suspicious. Shockwave had already stated his game history.
Eh, I'm fine with taking my vote off Shockwave, since he already claimed and running him up won't make a difference now. If he is scum he has painted a huge target on his back that we can look at later.
Unvote
Vote Rancid Raptor
Care to provide a reason with that vote Raptor? You seemed awfully eager to jump in the Karn wagon without addressing the Shockwave one a all.
I once replaced in a game I was told could be trashed if I stopped showing up... then stopped showing up. Seppel's concern is valid.
The last time I played on this site was back then, which was like December last year. The place I usually play at is a lot less competitively (?) played than here, and FoSs are really, really rare, so I can't say I was aware that FoSs are generally used only after votes.
I think Karn's point goes past the point of experience.
Even the least experienced should go, "hey, I'm town, he's obviously lying".
To me it looked like Shockwave was an obvious new player and was thrown off by RVS Seppel, thinking it was real. So As a new playermyself, I probably would of done the exact same thing and vote seppel. I know better however, so does Karn. Karn should know enough that is not a scum tell.
It becomes obvious later after generic goes silly that shockwave then votes Generic. His early defeatisim at One or two votes don't strike me as scum but New town frustrated.
Then he votes me for pushing shockwave because " should know these are new player tells not scum tells." I largely disagree with that statement. And, how do you feel about the other multiple players voting shockwave then? Are we all scum?
I remember a little game called small town, were mr karn was so sure he had found a scumslip from me, based on a lead up of pro town play. Such was this 'eye for a tell' that he pushed a mislynch on what he later back peddled as one if his strongest town reads.
It wasn't just about your slips. It was about how you handled being called out for it. You undeniably imploded and OMGUSed and called all 5+ people on your wagon scum over the course of a few posts, then you backtracked after people called you out on it.
I've tried explaining this to you multiple times now, but you still don't get it.
It's funny too - you keep degrading me for "ditching" my town read on you after the first 95% of Day1 that game, but you did exactly the same thing to me, and only on OMGUS no less. (If you'll recall, you even said that you were going to grant me the DoubleVote Night1 because I was your strongest town read.)
Once again for idiocy, this time carry over idiocy when he should have learned his lesson.
So now you're voting me because you're still sour about last game. And you're saying I'm doing the same thing I was doing last game (where I was town, mind you), but I don't think this is at all the same circumstance.
Well, look here for a moment.
Say you were playing mafia for the first time.
From some earlier research, you know the most basic of basic roles, like cop and doc.
First day opens, and some guy starts by spouting that they cop scanned you as mafia.
You are town.
What's your reaction?
I don't think it'll be "Pre-game cops can't exist, can it?".
The somewhat experienced would go "Ha, RVS"
The inexperienced will go "He's obviously lying, I know I'm town!"
So, yeah, I don't think it's a matter of experience here.
That reaction seems wrong for a town regardless of experience.

speaking of which... Vote Shockwave
Exactly.
Also, Generic - I will not be entertaining any more conversations about last game with you. You need to either get over it or replace out. This game is no place for it.
And if you are going to suggest i am not to use previous game events i will be looking to you to not mention a single previous game when passing comment on another player... fair?
You seriously do not even understand anything that I'm saying.
Welcome to

And Seppel is being Seppel baiting for reactions. I find it odd that he chose to jump to me after getting such a good catch on shockwave (as I detailed earlier) - but I wouldn't be surprised if he was just once again fishing for reaction by voting me.
Raptor naked barnvoted me and immediately tried to tie me someone else. It's a chainsaw defense of shockwave without directly talking about the situation.
So Raptor and Shockwave are at the bottom of my list.
Thanks to Heroes of the Plane Studios for the sigpic.
Spider-Man Mafia 3 (Off-Site: NGA)
Metroid Mafia (Off-Site: Mafia Universe)
@Shockwave: Generic is town; it's hard to be that silly as mafia.
Unvote, vote Shockwave.
Let's see what happens.
I missed RVS in Sesame Street Mafia?
Seppel's being Seppel; that's a good sign.
Why FoS when you're not voting someone?
On this site, at least, it's traditional to wait to claim until you have enough votes to be at L-2 (2 votes from being lynched). Claiming like this from anyone with experience would be seen as defeatism. Coming from someone who's likely encountering Seppel for the first time? Not terribly shocking. Most first encounters with Seppel result in player seppuku, but he grows on you after a while.
Love you, Seppel.
How are these scumtells and not new player nulls?
Why are you "sore off of the others"? Bad experiences? Will you link us to the games you've played on another site?
/barn
Are you saying "bad LnGrrrR: Shockwave didn't say he was town" or "gee, I didn't notice that Shockwave didn't say he was town"?
Or Bert and Ernie.
I've never seen or been in a game where the sample town role was an actual role in the game. It's just not done.
Why are you voting him?
Not reading the OP? Acceptable. Not reading the thread? Suspicious. Shockwave had already stated his game history.
Why smear like this?
That you're still pushing this in light of Shockwave indicating very low experience--and all previous experience on another site--is bad.
Vote Karn
EWP @Seppel:
Unvote
Vote Rancid Raptor
Care to provide a reason with that vote Raptor? You seemed awfully eager to jump in the Karn wagon without addressing the Shockwave one a all.
Club Flamingo Wins: 1!

It becomes obvious later after generic goes silly that shockwave then votes Generic. His early defeatisim at One or two votes don't strike me as scum but New town frustrated.
It's Hip to be a Square

Then he votes me for pushing shockwave because " should know these are new player tells not scum tells." I largely disagree with that statement. And, how do you feel about the other multiple players voting shockwave then? Are we all scum?
@Seppel, re: Raptor: #26 & 27.
In what world is that suspicious?
-
And why are you trying to make Seppel's joke/poke sound like he's "smearing" someone?
He must be scum.
It's Hip to be a Square
So now you're voting me because you're still sour about last game. And you're saying I'm doing the same thing I was doing last game (where I was town, mind you), but I don't think this is at all the same circumstance.

Exactly.
Also, Generic - I will not be entertaining any more conversations about last game with you. You need to either get over it or replace out. This game is no place for it.
Storyteller is town, Karn could be bussing.
You seriously do not even understand anything that I'm saying.
You just don't get it.
