This month, coolgriff14 started us on a well-timed journey to come up with new cards for a Commander release. Players came up with new legends to start their decks and filled them out with thematic tricks and support. The two players who made it to the finals are:
For the finals, each player was asked to design three cards as follows:
Create a new land or artifact that will go in all of the decks this time. This should be a new Commander staple along the lines of Command Tower or Opal Palace.
Choose an iconic rare or mythic from Magic's past and create a new card to make it part of a cycle, as the Commander products have done with Verdant Force.
Finally, we should see what other options players will have in this set of Commander decks. You are both mono-colored, so Ink-Treader needs to make the headlining white legend for a mono-white deck, and doombringer will make a blue legend to lead a deck of its own.
Psyche ChainerBB
Creature - Wizard Horror (R)
Deathtouch
Whenever Psyche Chainer deals damage to a player, for the rest of the game, whenever that player would draw a card other than the first card he or she drew that turn, that player instead doesn't draw a card unless he or she discards a card. "Those who seek knowledge, behold the fruit of your labors: ignorance."
-ancient warning
2/2
Chains of Mephistopheles says hi (well, sort of. The Chainer here is a bit less complicated)! Both are pretty horrifying when paired with mass discard/draw effects, although Psyche Chainer is one-sided. I figured considering the usual cost WotC likes to slap on "can't gain life" enchantments, this card can comfortably match Stigma Lasher's CMC. I wanted to give it intimidate, but decided that giving it evasion would probably be a bad idea.
Headlining monowhite legend
Firel, Expedition Leader2WW
Legendary Creature - Kor Scout (M) 2: Choose a basic land type. Firel, Expedition Leader and another target creature you control each get +1/+1 and gain landwalk of the chosen type until end of turn. This ability can't target the same creature more than once each turn.
Whenever Firel deals combat damage to a player, you may search your library for a Plains card and put it onto the battlefield tapped. Then shuffle your library.
2/4
Planar Embassy
Legendary Land (U)
:symtap:: Add 1 to your mana pool.
:symtap:: For each opponent, add one mana of any color to you mana pool. Activate this ability only if you control five or more lands.
Old Card Cyclized
Obviously this is a cycle incorperating Arc-Slogger.
Mind-Slogger :3mana::symu::symu:
Creature — Beast (R)
:symu:, Exile the top ten cards of your library: Target player puts the top five cards of his or her library into his or her graveyard.
4/5
Mono Blue Commander
Khafama, the Puzzler :3mana::symu::symu:
Legendary Creature — Sphinx (MR)
Flying
:2mana::symu::symu:, :symtap:: Name a nonland card. Target opponent reveals his or her hand. If he or she reveals the named card that player discards his or her hand and each player draws cards equal to the amount discarded. Each mind a riddle waiting to be solved

Congratulations doombringer! Now to the critiquing!
Planar Embassy: Cool land, with the added bonus of not being Commander centric. I have a feeling it'd be a popular casual land to boot.
Mind-Slogger: Picking Arc-Slogger to cyclize was an excellent choice, and it's very easy to see what a green version might do (Giant Growth). I'd say this is my favorite card of the three.
Khafama, the Puzzler: In a color with no problem's seeing your hand before the first activation... this is scary strong. It's not exactly mythic feeling, but there's no denying that a card like this would probably be mythic due to sheer card advantage. A commander certain to draw a lot of aggro.
Wow certainly surprised I won against such great competition.
So do I get any particular prize or anything or is it just bragging rights?
Critiques Soultap Spire - I love the elegance of this card. It is powerful yet very hard to break. I'm sure this would be a runaway hit in commander. Definitely my favorite of your entries.
Psyche Chainer - A challenging card to cyclize (that a word??) but I like your take on this. Using a simplified Chains of Mephistopheles is interesting and then giving this deathtouch is super evil (in a good way). This card has great tension to it and would fit well in commander. Obviously the one flaw is that this effect would possibly be done with emblems or some other effect to reduce memory issues, especially in 1 hour+ Commander games.
Firel, Expedition Leader - I love that you made this a Kor as it fits perfectly. The instrumenting use of white mana ramp has precedence but is rare so would make for a nice new playstyle compared to other monowhite commanders. Makes for a nice combo of voltron and ramp.
We cut back to three trophies per year - one for each Pro Tour winner, and one for the most pro tour points over the year. There is also the community-nominated Best Card Creator award.
All of this is presumably Megiddo's fault

Ink-Treader, with Kalivan, Death's Hand leading a devious mono-black deck.
doombringer, whose Trepidus, Breaker of Oaths leads a chaotic mono-red deck.
