fantastic discussion of this deck. and of course they are.
the logic is simple.
green is the crappiest color in magic
those duals have green
therefore, those duals suck.
now go spend 40 bucks for all 6 of them and play this deck
besides, what kind of scrub doesn't have playsets of all the duals?

MGA is actually pretty solid, and dosent require the duals. Allosaurus Rider is a card that I personally believe will significantly increase in both value and playability come states. Chord is alright, bus should be a pumping enchantment - 'allo Cloak?

fantastic discussion of this deck. and of course they are.
the logic is simple.
green is the crappiest color in magic
but blue is the best, and those dual include blue, also, ALOT of very successful decks now run green, as it has been pumping out some very good aggro cards.
those duals have green
therefore, those duals suck.
the red-black ones are the cheapest, averaging in at only $14
now go spend 40 bucks for all 6 of them and play this deck
Each of them goes for about $14-16, and last time I checked 6*14=/=40
And a $7 pain land.
Otherwise, pretty cheap cards, all things considered.
besides, what kind of scrub doesn't have playsets of all the duals?
Many very good and very heavily invested players own about 8-12 duals.
The average player owns much less, if any. Most people who play this game don't feel like spending $600 on a hobby, before buying any of the other cards.

Pshhh. I have a $500 per YEAR budget for magic, and somehow i have playsets with foils as well, of both duals and painlands. Nearly everyone I know has at least 30-ish duals, so I really don't see how people cant have any - wait, i do know. bad luck opening packs and really stupid trades.
I highly doubt MGA or the rider willhave any vaule whatsoever - no moncolor deck really can now, since barely splashing for a second color can patch up every hole in the color. But like I said, run this at FNM.
Oh, and green is the worst color in magic. ever.
(if you cant tell, im just really, really bored recently. and the first poster annoyed me.)

Wow.... ever thought .... how much you annoy other people ? lol... $500 on magic a year ? lol.... wow ... creating a budget for Magic.... thats just great man.. keep at it ... lol...
lets see.... I take all the useless duals... make em FORESTS.... and buy more allosaurus rider instead.... i wonder.... I have ALOT of money left over..
500 a year? 400 probably ends up going towards FNMs every week (at 8$ per FNM about). How do you stretch 100 dollars into a playset of all 10 duals? Thats 40 cards, each card at around 10 dollars, which is 400 total. So you are winning $300 worth of cards every year? And thats just for duals, you still need non-land cards to actually build the deck with. Thats probably another 100 or 200 right there. I call BS on that 500 dollar a year budget that you can get a playset of all the duals and still have enough left to get non-land rares and play FNMs every week.
er... lets see, i pay(ed) 5 bucks an FNM at first (where the hell do they charge 8?!) , but when you win you can get store credit and/or packs. So, i basically buy a box of each new set, plus the occasional non-FNM tournament, plus some random cards I may need - and I STILL have spare credit left over. I think I have over $70 right now, and thats after spending 40 plu ssome credit for a fat pack and a box.
so lets see, EVEN IF I PAYED for FNM ever single time, the math would work out - 12 * 20 = $240, 260 left over. 3 boxes a year at $80 apiece = 240, leaving $20 for random rares I may need... I if open half decent boxes, I can trade for everything I need. now taking into consideration that FNM is essentially free for me - thats 240 a year on boxes, leaving 260 for other stuff... about 60 - 80 of which I use for tournaments other than FNM, leaving 200 bucks for anything else I could imagine. How is that impossible again? Sure, if you suck at constructed and have a 200 dollar budget, you'll not have any duals. But who spends that little?
\
Evo - is something wrong with having a budget? I like being organized with my money :/
and useless duals? Monogreen blows. it blows hard. blue lets it get tempo, and the white and red let you use the battlemage's abilities (think KBKbot). They are ANYTHING but useless. Also, in foil, they'll piss off your opponent.
so lets see, EVEN IF I PAYED for FNM ever single time, the math would work out - 12 * 20 = $240, 260 left over. 3 boxes a year at $80 apiece = 240, leaving $20 for random rares I may need... How is that impossible again? Sure, if you suck at constructed and have a 200 dollar budget, you'll not have any duals. But who spends that little?
Well, thats the difference, you can win enough to the point where FNM is free every week. Obviously not everyone can do that. For you to win, SOMEONE has to lose, and that person wont be able to pull off a playset of duals on 500 dollars a year. So if in theory everyone had 500 dollars a year to spend on magic, about 80% (the ones that consistantly win enough to play for free every week) wont be able to pull off a playset of all duals on 500 dollars a year.
And really, 500 dollars a year is a tad steep for some people. Back when I was a kid and didn't have a job I probably got a tad under 500 dollars a year when it came to allowance. But I didn't spend it all on magic! So unless you have no life, I assume you do the same thing, meaning that to be able to spend 500 on magic, you would probably actually have to have 1000 dollars a year to pull that off. And that works out to like 80 dollars a month if I did the math right. Not everyone has rich parents.
lol, I dont have an allowance - im in college. I work as a valet, so i can get around 500 bucks a weekend, no sweat.
but this is off topic :/
Lets discuss the deck.

You might be surprised to know a good number of magic players are kids then. Kids with allowances, not jobs.
well, i can spend more than $500 a year on magic, and have a playset of the duals i need, but the point is, just because you can consider duals with green as budget doesn't mean it's budget for everyone.
and by the way, green does NOT suck.. if it sucks you won't even think of playing it at an fnm...
First of all, if you think green sucks you just lose the little respect I might have for you, second the fact that you don't have anything better to use your money than magic doesn't mean that all the other people is that lucky, My self I have a set of all duals but that doen't mean I expend $500 on cards

AMEN! I work hard to buy my stuff and I hate when kids complain about the lack of cards when they could just go out and get a job. I got your back man, If I did not have to go to school and pay for a car right now I would do the same thing.
Yea, I agree. Although since Wizards markets this game mostly to kids, you are going to see a lot of that regaurdless. Im just pointing out that not everyone can afford to spend that much money on lands. No complaining, just stating a fact. And when you say a deck is a cheap deck, and the lands alone are over 30 dollars, then obviously you have a different definition of cheap than other people.
meh, sucks for them. ive been working since I was 15 - so i really have no sympathy for them.
What about *Gasp* the people below the legal working age!? Hmm...if you can't work, then, maybe, just maybe, you can't afford to drop a couple hundred on a deck!?! Shock and Awe.
We live in a country were ~50% of the populace believe public schooling is a socialist conspiracy and that being called Einstein is an insult. We could try and fix it, but unfortunately the other 50% don't believe in euthanasia.
Huh, all of this arguing about budgets is weird. Rav Duals are in no way budget to anyone. Voidslimes aren't exactly budget either. They are actually chase cards. Now on topic: the deck looks horrible. I don't see why you think it could be remotely competitve. Why are you splashing red for Thornscape Apprentice- you're in green (naturalize), and do you really need a onetime shock? Why is the deck G/u/w/r? It just seems unreliable. You have all of these land fetchers to color fix- yet you aren't running Vinelasher Kudzu maindeck. If you want to go the whole elf route then use good elves. Elvish Berserker is nice, and Silhana Legdewalker is the best elf around in T2. Just go monogreen (since it's soooo bad[/sarcasm]) elf deck, here is a list off the top of my head (something actually budget)-
Honestly man, your whole attitude and posting on this thread (which you created) seems to be just trolling. Who cares how much people make, and what they spend on MtG? Your point throughtout this thread just seems.. green bad, therefore green shocklands=budget... it's just dumb.

No one said the deck can't be built that easily.. it's just not quite my standard of 'budget'.
meh, sucks for them. ive been working since I was 15 - so i really have no sympathy for them.
I can't LEGALLY get a job until I'm 16.
Anyways, look at Simian's deck. THAT's a budget deck. It's also more reliable then yours.
I can get duals, that's not the issue. They're just not budget. If duals are cheap to you, what do you consider expensive (in t2)?
Anyways, I own 2 duals (8 if you count old). I play T2 cause the tournies are free. It's fun, I just don't want to spend a lot of money. Lands and Voidslimes alone for that deck would cost me near 100$. It's not that I can't do it, it just doesn't make it a budget deck. It's also not good.

This deck doesn't make much sense. What business does Allosaurus Rider have in a multicolor deck? Hardcasting it is out of the question. Overall the deck is unfocused and needs to be fine-tuned or scrapped altogether.
And we're not asking you to have sympathy for the 13-year-old who just has 5 bucks a week to buy cards - just accept the fact that duals and voidslime aren't budget, and accept the fact that not everyone has the money to buy duals.
What kind of player doesn't have a playset of all the duals? A normal one.

alright, everyone on this thread is spamming, flaming, or trolling!!! Including me right now. I am surprised that this thread is still open, apparently the mods don't look in the DFC very often... Also, billythefridge, i think you might be right about that... him being angry with his father, but maybe not, it could always be his mother....
Alright going back to the topic I think simisans deck is way more budget than the other ones posted also remeber that maybe he doesn't live with his parents it could also be their grandfather
