Just came across a new program called Cockatrice. http://www.cockatrice.de/ Has an oracle importer so no need to download bases, is open source, and under active development. Found it on TMD http://www.themanadrain.com/index.php?topic=38730.0

I've released one that I've been working on for a few weeks as well. Rather than import all the cards at the beginning, it accesses the Oracle as needed. You can run it in two modes "Owned" and "Not Owned".
When in Owned mode, it will only search cards in your local database that you own. When not in owned mode, it will do the search using the Oracle. Before downloading the card details, it first checks to see if the local database already has that card downloaded. If so, it will get the local copy of the card details (image, text, etc.). If not it will download it, then save it locally for later use. The upshot is it has access to all cards immediately. You don't need to update the card lists, either. When Zendikar is released they should automatically start showing up in your search results. It's free and in active development. http://www.andrewfaust.com/mtg |

Hello. Wagic was updated today to version 0.9.1.
It now supports more than 5000 cards (which, I believe, now makes Wagic the MTG simulation against an AI opponent with the highest number of cards). On top of that we were recently joined by a team of talented designers and developers, who gave the game a very professional look (I hope pictures are allowed, please remove them if that's not the case). ![]() This is open source, cross platform(Windows/Linux/PSP) and we are looking for all the help we can get, do not hesitate to contact me |

They used to have little images indicating platform - Feyd_Ruin must have pulled the same trick FirePenguinMaster did with the PSD thread and stowed the icons in Testing Grounds. Then the Testing Grounds were wiped. I'll get some new icons and attach them to the front post good and proper.
