I had originally said that it was going to be Rise of the Eldrazi (248) size. I may revise that down a bit. Although, it probably needs to be at least as big as Icefall (175, as planned) in order to support the new mechanics I want to introduce.
So here's the thing. The 3rd set in Call to Glory block might want to be a big set as well. I don't want both blocks to end on big sets. I need to decide which one gets the treatment.
Will the one that doesn't have a normal draft format?
Edit: Also, will the one that gets a big set have a larger mechanical change than the one that gets a small set? I kind of prefer DOM's themes to CtG's, and it seems like DOM's can probably support more cards, so that would seem to be a point in favor of making CtG3 big.

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I primarily play limited, so most of my spoiler season comments view cards through that lens.
So, here's what I know about Nexus so far (and I'm being a lot more forthcoming than I usually am):
Nexus is a large third set, akin to Rise of the Eldrazi or Avacyn Restored, with about 240-260 cards. It is meant to be standalone for draft.
The 90-degree angle tie-in to the rest of Dominaria block is basic. In Constructed formats, this will play with both the snow and multicolor factions established in Dominaria and Icefall, as well as the overarching manabase themes of Dominaria block.
The set contains no snow cards and no multicolor cards.
Basic creatures are in the set, as are a few other "basic" surprises.
A few cards (all basic, all common) will have alternate art versions in the set, and will therefore appear in packs at twice the normal rate.
The set will have at least one major mechanic that does something with card names that hasn't been done before.
The storyline of the set takes place in the immediate aftermath of the Coalition - Kaldarjar war.
The storyline of the set takes place not on Dominaria, but within the Nexus of the Multiverse that has for millennia been coexistent with Dominaria.
Characters from Dominaria and Icefall will return in Nexus.
"Basic" isn't the only thing going on with this set, it's just the first big piece that I've locked in. Kind of like how RotE has level up, rebound, and totem armor, I'm expecting Nexus to have a lot of stuff that doesn't tie in directly to the "basic" theme.
I feel like I'm missing something here. Basic ties into snow because snow decks tend to play a lot of basic land, but I don't see the connection with multicolor. It seems opposed to multicolor at first glance.
Basic actually feels like a pretty brutal thing to design around, because it has literally no gameplay relevance in limited play.

Well, I'm not committing to bringing back domain yet, but the connection to multicolor will be something like that. A mechanic that encourages you to run different kinds of basic lands. (I'm only iffy on domain because it's so similar to spectrum, which is locked-in for Dominaria + Icefall. Otherwise I'd do it in a heartbeat.)
The "basic" theme will be relevant to Limited because of how I'm planning to include the basic cards in the set: the common basic creatures, at least, will have two alternate-art versions, and each version will appear with the same regularity as any other card. So, those individual basic cards will be twice as prevalent in Limited. That's my way to get the "feel" of basic cards into a format where there are no per-card deck construction limitations.
Set 3 of 3 in Dominaria block
My body is so ready for this. Is it... not guaranteed to be a small set?
