Also, I will be playing R/G LD, as I did last year, and at states. I think I finally know the deck well enough to do very well. I've got alot of different stuff than what everyone else plays with.
Jace on the other hand gives you card advantage for no life cost. On the contrary, Jace can actually take some damage for you. I'd think that makes him better than Arena.
Im trying to figure out something, are regionals the same as states. I looked on magicthegathering.com and it didnt list any info for states. Does anyone know when states are, or if regionals are states???
really people, saviors isnt even out yet and it will have at least 1 card that is used in a deck that impacts it. with betrayers being very low powerwise with only jitte, shoals, and maybe some reanimator type stuff ever going to see play. With absolutely no decent card draw in the format outside of creatures being the only decent ones, i think a good card draw spell will be printed on the same quality level of serum visions. probably a splice card draw spell that actually splices instead of just being arcane reach thru mists... probably some more aggro stuff, but still, we will not know until we actually see the cards and test them in the 4 weeks we have to do that before regionals.
I especially like how states was the week the set became legal for tournament play and so is regionals now with saviors and before champions. it seems betrayers is betraying this format, muhahahah. sry for that
this is going to seam really random but I haven't played standard in the longest time (for obvious reasons I need not point out) but with regionals coming up i need to put together a deck but I really don't know anything about the format.
can anyone give me a idea of the two or three most succesfull deckes currently in standard? I will be very greatfull if I could get some help but dont want to take away from the main topic @ hand
i'm undecided at the moment, i'll have to see what changes SoK brings to standard before i decide. what ever i choose it'll be a control deck i'm thinking either MUC or MBC.
A player at the local shop (no tournament, just a bunch of people playing casual games) plays the ability of door to nothingness.
As his opponent is about to pick up his cards, he stands up and walks three tables down, and taps the guy on the shoulder. "Hi, I'm playing just a few tables down and just sacrificed a door to nothingness. I'm targeting you. Sorry."
And the guy picked up his cards.
US Regionals events are on June 25th. As others have pointed out, Saviors of Kamigawa will be legal for this event (it becomes legal for tourney play on June 20th). Regionals was moved specifically so that the full Standard could be used, not all but the last set as in years past. Regionals in other countries will be held on different days. I'm not sure if I'll be playing or judging yet, and since no one knows what Saviors will do to the environment, I don't know what I'd play if I have the chance.
States is in October, the weekend after Standard rotates. For States this year (I'll guess it'll be on the 23rd, but that's very unofficial -- the 30th seems a poor choice because of Hallowe'en the following day), T2 will consist of 9th Edition, Kamigawa Block, and Ravnica.
I'm sure that States will be October 23rd this year, it's always been the first Saturday after the cards were legal since they changed it to be legal on the 20th, I doubt they'd do anything different now. It's interesting to note that States will occur before Worlds does this year..so States might actually serve some purpose in identifying and developing the metagame, whereas normally it's just a gigantic FNM. Of course, it's also possible that they'll delay States so that it doesn't occur before Worlds, or they'll just abolish it. Personally, I think that States should actually matter..the T4/T8 or something should get 3 Byes for Regionals...but I also think that Worlds should occur before the rotation..it's going to be a very odd Worlds this year, with Mirrodin and 8th both rotating right before hand.
if they are october 23rd, thats a hell of a birthday present. i guess i cant get hammered on my 21st if i wanna try to do well at states... oh well, ill be bringing shaman-geddon to regionals
Either MUC or Suicide Belcher, only time will tell.

Legacy love.
I'll probably run mono-blue control, unless Saviors alters the format significantly.
Shadowmoor's Infinite combos

I used to write for MTGS, including Cranial Insertion and cube articles. Good on you if you can find those after the upgrade.
