Great article, but I have only one thing to complain about - chrome mox. It's strictly inferior to mox diamond(enables explosives for 2) since this deck seems to empty it's hand very fast. Also maindeck crypt is a must.

I enjoyed reading

So the plan is to convince your opponent that your green bordered Serendib Efreet is actually green so you can imprint it on a mox and then have your sided in Engineered Explosives hit a mana cost higher than 1...right?

Great interview Finn, and in-depth! Incidentally, there seems to have been a glut of Stompy-variant dex in the Legacy forums here (including mine...)could this be a growing trend?

Yeah, Jarno gave a superb interview. He has a pretty deep understanding of this game, and it shows.

I had no idea that Sea Drake was so difficult to find. I have one and I thought it was a 50 cent card xD

I think it is quite damaging to the accessability of Legacy when there are cards with Vintage size price tags, one of the attractions of Legacy is that you can play without massive investment. I have been watching online Legacy play for a long time now and seeing the number of Sea Stompy decks always amuses me as I think how you wouldn't see more than one of them in most Legacy tournaments let alone several in a top eight, dam Sea Drake

Nice article though, and good luck to anyone who already has them, it's a fine deck.

Strictly is a word I'd be very cautious with. I'd go as far as to claim that Chrome Mox is far superior to Mox Diamond in FS. As the deck is presently built, Chrome Mox takes a landslot. Playing Mox Diamond requires you to draw Mox Diamond AND two lands to have a keeper, while with Mox, all you need is the Mox and the land. Also, if you don't draw a two-mana land in the opener, Mox Diamond can be rather subpar as you need 4 (!!) manacards to have a keeper. The ability to drop Engineered Explosives at 2 is nice and all, but I really wouldn't want to add 3 more lands just to allow that (especially as it's rather easy to achieve with a dual+few fetches). Basically, Explosives are in the deck to take out a huge number of 1-CC threats like Mongeese, Lackeys, Vials, Needles, etc. so it doesn't really need to be castable at 2 to use. I presently play Shoreline Ranger as a singleton to balance out the mana a bit by imprinting it on Chrome Mox/pitching on Force or fetching an Island, as sitiuation warrants. Anyway, the main argument against Mox Diamond is that unless you add a lot more lands, it'll require a lot more mulligans and also make your mulligans worse as you need to hit more mana sources to have a keeper. I'd play Lotus Petal before Mox Diamond (since Lotus Petal leaves you with the same amount of mana sources as Mox Diamond and doesn't require a pitch to use) and I'm not seeing people endorsing that either.

As for maindeck Tormod's Crypt, it requires a VERY obscure meta to be worth it. You'll draw a singleton every now and then and it requires you to drop some very powerful card to fit in. It's fine against Threshold (although even there, you don't want to just draw it, you want to tutor for it to avoid mana issues), but you'll mostly rely on Chalices there anyways. Against just about all decks where Crypt would be useful, you already have a strong plan G1 that mostly involves a Chalice, a Needle or a Force (Chalice against Loam-strategies and combo, Needle against Survival-strategies and Force against some of the Confinement/Reanimator-strategies). Basically, I don't think an MD Crypt does enough in the normal Legacy-meta to warrant inclusion. It'll be just fine from the board.

But this all belongs in the FS-thread. Glad if you folk liked the article and thanks to Finn for making it.

gah... the price was already high....

One can only hope that WOTC prints more legacy level stuff in future sets(haha no pun on future sight)

Still, reading the legacy forums the level of innovation is pretty high =) and the strangest cards can find a home

I think that Wizards needs to recongnize some need of Magic Players. How awsome would it be if there was a similar card to sea drake, but still balanced? Something with like 1 less power that was in Future Sight. I suppose it could be odd if the deck MDed both, but still... Something like that would be cool.

that list seems pretty outdated... the deck definately has not run Faerie Conclave in months, and last time I checked Eldariel was no longer running 3 MD Psi Blasts. I wouldn't be surprised if the # of blasts had changed, but I would be shocked if he went back to 2 MD conclaives.
