Talking [FS] Tarmogoyf (1st post updated)

This is what happened. When I finally had gathered the courage to phone the easter egg-number, it was unmistakenly answered by the long blondehaired woman. In that special voice of hers she told me her husband was "out of town" and that if I would visit her at her house she would "make it worth my while".
I hesitated, was this a setup? On the other hand: it seemed an offer I couldn't refuse

When I arrived at the given adress (it was in the posh part of town) the door was open. I entered and the first thing I saw was a reproduction of the Black Lotus hanging on the wall of the hallway. There also lay a snippet of paper on the stairs. I picked it up and it said: "Tarmogoyf". I called but no one answered.
Then I saw another piece of paper, higher up the stairs. And another one, and another one.
I gathered as much of them as I dared, but then my courage failed me. I bolted, leaving behind at least one piece of paper at the top the stairs.

Outside again, I could peace together the following text:

1g
Creature - Lhurgoyf
Tarmogoyf's power is equal to the number of card types among cards in all graveyards and it's toughness is equal to that number plus 1. (The card types are artifact, creature, enchantment, instant, land, sorcery, Tribal, and Planeswalker)
*/1+*

It's rare and futureshifted...

Edit: Scan!

Apparently. Does anyone have any idea what these new types are going to be?

Tsk Tsk hunter , Hydro would have gone all the way
Nice card that will in all likely hood be a 2/3 at best most of the time.

Interesting... though a little dissappointing in that it can only get so high due to the limited number of card types, it's still a good deal at 1G. Playing this around turn 3-4 or so it will very often be at least a 2/3 if not higher.

I know a lot of people were speculating that the new types would be subtypes like Equipment since it was advertized as the first new card type since Legends. This makes it seem like they are going to be full card types. Nice hint at confermation.

Maybe this creature could see some limited play but... it doesn't make me say "wow! I love it so much!".
Thanks Hunter you are great!

Aww, we almost knew two new types

The card: most of the time, it will be 3/4 for 2 mana (for creatures, sorceries, and instants). That's not bad at all. But I wouldn't look at it as a second drop...

You guys sound unenthusiastic. If I play this in block, you can bet there'll be a cracked terramorphic expanse, a control deck would play something like think twice or a counter, and if they cast damnation a second copy would be 4/5 for 1G. It seems like a pretty obnoxious card to side in against them.

I love these stories hunter and hydro are making up. much more entertaining then 'heres a card, this post is basicly spam' (RE i loved when you posted rumors, but yea, these stories are awesome sauce)

one thing i dont understand is, so if i have like 3 cards in the yard and 2 are lands and the other is an instant it will only be a 2/3? thats kinda meh to me. it really is a cheap late game card.

hmm compared to the other Lhurgoyfs this does'nt look like it will grow very big.. but for 2cc =) still... looks like a turn 2-3 onwards card since you still need to have stuff in the grave.... probably will find a home in a deck with early attrition

I don't get why people are calling this card bad. Sure, if you play it turn 2 it's unlikely to be more than a 1/2, but if you do anything meaningful turn 3 - say use a removal spell on a creature or play a creature that gets countered - then it's typically going to be a 3/4 or so. Its P/T peaks at 6/7, which is fantastic for a 2-drop. And if there are new card TYPES... then wow.
