Excellent article and even more interesting than the last
I found it amusing he mentioned Sirroco as that card is what we used to SB to prevent solidarity showing up in UK
Really enjoyed getting an insight into his mind as like you said the interactions with this deck are crazy.

Great article Finn! Enjoyed it through and through.

The only thing I miss, (and if I missed it, let me know), was the origin of the decks name. I always found the story to be amusing.

Yes, awesome article, and yes, deck name origins' stories are usually amusing too. Like Rambid Wombat. Anyone know where it came from?

Pyrostatic Pillar is decent, but Red, and Sirocco is so ludicrously narrow. However, just in terms of sheer power, Sirocco (if it resolves) is probably the strongest spell out of all of them.
Ersatz Gnomes for the win? Or would the fact that it is just another trigger mean it bombs, as well?

ADD: Oh- and another good read. These recent interviews have been quite entertaining.

Even though I've heard just about all of this before (amazing the things, just browsing the Source does for you), I still enjoyed reading it. Gearhart is awesome and we'll be waiting to see if you can right the wrong and Top 8 at Columbus.

Default New to Legacy.

I enjoyed the read. I am new to legacy format and have just began to read about it. I might try to build and play Solidarity as the cards listed are easy to come by. (well at least for the monou build) Every deck does have a bad matchup, every deck, what bad matchup would be for Solidarity? Granted Gearhart professes the undeniable power and ability this deck has... but still as magic goes there is the bad matchup. What if any would they be? One deck that comes to mind is monob discard, yes I already know thats a newbies deck but hey it is an uncommon deck one might expect to play against.

The best deck out their that generally runs over solidarity (or comes as close to it as possible) is red death. Pikula has a good match as well but it isn't up to the level that red death is.

Thanks for the feedback. Dave is so ridiculous and funny that I enjoyed writing this a lot. I have read his tournament reports over and over, and still laugh.

Finn, I believe this is your best interview and writeup yet. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the article, and as a solidarity player I am glad Gearhart pointed out the Twincast/IGG shenanigans. I hope he is able to place in Columbus to rep the deck and his abilities as a deckbuilder/player...since I won't be attending .

For an article titled "What's next for Legacy", this was sorely disappointing.

Also, while I congratulate you for designing Solidarity and you wouldn't hear the end of it if I had designed something similar, you first complain that your online persona comes out as an obnoxious horn-touter, then act like one.

I'd have liked this one better if it was titled "David Gearhart, the original creator of Solidarity, on the deck's history and future" or some such.

Edit: I had never heard the name before today, and I do follow Legacy a bit. And no, I can't attend GP Columbus, it's 10.000 km from where I'm standing

If you didn't realize the author was not David Gearhart. The "What's Next for Legacy" is the title of the segment written by the author.
