Default [FS] Thornweald Archer and more (rumored)

So, I just saw grindhouse. Fantastic movie, right?
Anways, I was driving home and stopped at a red light. Suddenly I heard the telltale sound of a revving engine. I knew I was in for a race tonight. I looked over, and saw the same red sports car from earlier. An enchanting redhead was driving it. Her radio was blasting "Magic" by seventies supergroup Pilot.

I grinned at her while putting on my extra dark shades and said,"Just you and me baby". "..and the road", she finished. I just nodded.

Knowing this was my night.

We revved our engines in anticipation for the race, and then the light changed..

yellow

to red

I gunned it

I was invincible. The wind rushed through my hair. I didn't even need to look at the road. My eyes locked with hers as the music played "Oh oh it's magic!".

The night was electric as we went faster and faster into the great unknown.. The world raced by at an incredible pace, yet we seemed to be in slow motion.

Just me

and her

and sirens?

"What the?!.. Oh man, not now!

I saw her red car blaze off into the night, to who knows where. Taking with it my dreams and leaving only the fleeting memory of the most beautifull woma.."

"Cool it Shatner!", the cop interupted, "Why don't you stop waxing poetic and take this ticket already ya moron?"

I took the ticket, and drove off. On the radio was this fantastic police song.. "Every little thing she does.."
"Is magic!", I finished. I looked down at the ticket and lo and behold!

Hmm... The archer is interesting and the scorn could be good if enchantments go crazy, but the others seem pretty weak. If a good black madness deck comes out, the zombie would definately go in.

[EDIT] Missed the convoke on the kavu. That makes it a LOT more interesting. Would be better with trample/evasion but it could see some play as a fatty finisher in limited or with Sprout Swarm

wow, the white one is cool. The others are just meh.
EDIT: Ouch, is this actually the reminder text for reach? That means it can't block Silhana-like cards? It sucks...

Archer + Fire whip. I had fun with that old basilisk deck back in the day.

A madness trigger. Interesting twist. However, this is basically just a black Ashcoat Bears with Call to the Netherworld attached. I mean, it's not awful, but paying 3B for a 2/2 is. 1B for a Gravedigger is decent, but it requires a bit of hoopjumping in standard.

The archer is interesting. It kills redkroma and SSS dead, though you take a bunch of trample in the process.

Convoke-kicker is an interesting combo, and a potential 7/7 early off of a saproling cluster (say, from Thelonite Hermit) could be pretty devastating.

Patrician's Scorn is unexciting. Tranquility effects are largely ignored, and the ACC, while interesting, still doesn't make this very worth playing, except maybe out of the board if a glare type deck gets big. The ACC reminds me of a fantasy card I had come up with at some point, Force of Habit. It was a counter for 3UU (mirroring FoW obviously), but you could play it for free if you had already counterd something that turn.

So now they're combining convoke with kicker? Interesting stuff. I like all of these cards. If you somehow manage 4 creatures and 4 open mana on your 4th turn, you could throw down a 4th turn 7/7. Not too great in constructed, but fun in casual, and the design is what's important.

Man, I've gotta say that I like the Primarch. That kicker cost is a lot more manageable with convoke...

1. Land, Llanowar Elves
2. Land, Fists of Ironwood
3. Land, Scatter the Seeds
4. Land, Kickered Primarch (Convoked)

7/7, 5 saprolings, and an elf by turn four isn't too shabby. And I'm sure it could be far better than this...

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but can convoke pay the kicker cost like it does for buyback?

I realy like the cards, the white one is a very cool concept. I also like the idea of a madness cost giving a neat benefit for a lower cost. I hope they put Deathtouch and First strike togeather on a card.

Edit -- Poo, I've been sarnathed.

Would R&D do that? Is there a possiblity the archer should read "Combat-damage?"

The archer is the most interesting, and probably the best card here. The Scrabbler might cause confusion, because the way the ability reads, some people might think it's like a kicker effect. The Kavu is huge & as a splashable common that yields to the player's needs will see probably see play in limited. The white card is weird.

Yeah the whole mechani-combos on the FS are great. The Black imp with the echo cost of ditching a cost with the black card heres makes it worth making
a weirdy combo with.

Hey at least noone have been hassled by penguins of doom nor underpants gnomes yet :P

A two card "combo" that kills a creature per turn isn't exatly broken. If the card has the reminder text how he says it is, this is entirely possible.

I don't think so. If they're keywording other stuff, they'll probably stick to the older stuff. Reminder text is easy to leave out critical info anyways.

But I could be wrong.

Sweet! A card with further reward for playing Madness?! I will so want this But on the second note, the fact that the bonus can be gotten only via Madness kinda hurts it...

The Archer is a bit blah. A decent card, yes, but with it being 2/1, it dies too quickly for its basilisk ability to become a serious threat..... Unless we give it Sinstriker's Will, which then nobody attacks

Kavu Primarch looks nice..... 3/3 for 4 with convoke is already decent (though green usually have 4/4 for 4 anyway), but then you can tap 4 more creatures to make it a 7/7? Nice. Pity it, like Pouncing Wurm, doesn't have trample.... And why is this Kavu common while this kid is so obviously superior than the pouncing wurm? Because the Wurm can have haste?

Patrician's Scorn's bonus is awesome, but unfortunately, the effect sucks. A sorcery too, while we already have Tempest of Light and Leave no Trace for mass enchantment wipeout....
