This game is like a normal mountainous game, with one exception: the mafia recruits night one instead of killing. This gives some deceit to the setup, which gives it substance.
The Roles:
You are a townie. You have no special abilities. You win when the mafia are dead.
You are a mafioso. Night one, you will recruit a player. That player will join your mafia group for the rest of the game. You may talk with that player each night, and each night you may convene to kill someone off. You win when you control the town, or nothing can prevent this.
You have been recruited into the mafia with XXX. You may talk with this player each night, and each night you may convene to kill someone off. You win when you control the town, or nothing can prevent this.
RULES:
(stolen from Mr. Stoofer, with modifications.)
[01] Votes must be in bold. If you do not bold your vote, it will not be counted.
[02] Please be attentive and unvote, if necessary, before casting a new vote. This is not required, but I’d appreciate it.
[03] Lynching will require a simple majority of votes. Once a player has reached the necessary majority, their pleas are useless and any attempts to unvote will be unheeded. Feel free to post in twilight, though.
[04] You may vote: no lynch – majority votes of this kind are necessary to end the day without a death.
[05] If a deadline is reached with no majority, the day will end without a lynch.
[06] The game is not to be discussed outside the thread unless your role specifically states that you may do so – and then only at night.
[07] When I set a day deadline, the deadline lasts until I actually lock the thread.
[08] Once your death scene has been posted, you’re dead. Only creampuffeater is allowed to make a bah post. Edit: Clarification revoked because cpe was being a rebel. ;_;
[09] No small or invisible text. Don’t edit/delete previously submitted posts either.
[10] Don’t quote any PMs from me. If you do, I will destroy you.
[11] If you have a night choice to make, it is due by the posted deadline. I will not wait for you – if you do not submit a choice to me, I’ll make it for you and you won’t like it.
[12] If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 72-hour period, please post a notice to that effect in the thread. Treat this game as a commitment. Be considerate – don’t leave us hanging. If you have a schedule that makes you unable to post on certain days, please post a notice to that effect in the thread. Unless you're cpe. Only cpe is allowed to lurk (and he will).
[13] Unlike other mods I am fallible. Please point out any mistakes I make gently. In particular, if I post a vote count that does not accurately reflect your vote, it is your responsibility to correct me. If you don’t your vote may be treated as it appears in the vote count.
[14] If you have any questions at all, please PM me or post the question in the thread.
[15] Remember, it’s a game and it’s supposed to be fun. Be nice to your fellow players and your mod. I have zero tolerance for abusive posts.
[16] Dagger is only allowed three teaspoons of sugar a night. Give him any more sugar, and you will be modkilled. <3
NOTE: I hate lurking in mountainous games. Hate it, hate it, hate it.
this is so unfair. I was the 2nd person to sign up, and yet I am still put as a replacement. Where am I going to get experience? =( Everyone here hates me. I've already played on other sites before.
I thought it said to confirm by PM, but I guess not. Confirm.

Actually, prominant players are probably good lynch targets, especially later on in the game, as they will most likely be first targets for scum conversion.

Conversly, the scum could have recruited low-profile players. That way the scum can lynch all the "name" people in the game with no risk of accidentally hitting one of thier own.
I was told today that this kid on my team called 911 twice this morning and hung up both times. They called back and his dad answered. The reason the kid called 911? He got an erection and didn't know what to do. I wish I was making this up.

This could be argued in circles for hours, you know. "But if they know that I know that they know that I know..." and so forth. But you make a valid point. Still, I find it more likely that the "name" people would be recruited early, as they are generally better players and more able to defend themselves against crys of "SCUM!"

You are being serious in discussing who is the best auto-lynch target ?
Don't know if he was, but actually Myrf's point raises an interesting area for future discussion.
Really the only thing which gives us a handle on this game at all is trying to get some concept of likely recruit targets. As I see it there are two obvious approaches:
1) The initial Mafia recruit someone they think is a strong player, because that weakens the town's analytical capacity.
2) The initial Mafia recruit someone they think will do a good job of remaining low profile, because that makes it less likely the town will pick them for a lynch.

Makes sense, to target prominent players first. This way you scums can slow this game down and get easier control over the town, right ?
What I was saying is that targetting prominant players isn't as bad as you're making it sound. I AM NOT suggesting that we lynch Bat/Loran/ZDS now because they might be recruited. I am saying that lynching prominent players is not as terrible as you're trying to make it sound.

Hang on... so you weren't being sarcastic about that? And sorry, I'll get that M right from now on.
Also, doesn't N1 typically come after D1? I know the thread said N1 during sleepy time... but it's entirely possible the mafia haven't even recruited someone yet. No, he said that recruiting would happen N1. We already had N1, so I would assume that unless the scum can put their recruitment off (which, from reading the setup, I doubt), that we have an ex-townie among us.

I'll update your definition for you. WIFOM is any argument that can be argued into circles forever. For example:
"Scum would recruit the best townies possible"
"But they know we know that... so they might recruit a mid or low-skill player to confuse us"
"but if they thought we might anticipate that... they'd counter by recruiting the best player around"
Sound Familiar?

That's my point about 28. It's COMPLETE wifom to speculate over who would be recruited. Yes, they could go with strong players, or they could KNOW that strong players would be likely to be suspected of recruitment, and went with a noob instead.
This makes it completely random, and more than "Somewhat wifom" It makes it COMPLETELY wifom. You say you are trying to create discussion, and stimulate the town, to me it sounds like you're trying to get us to discuss random wifom, and distract the town. No good can come of discussing which is true in a scenario which is 50-50.
