It kind of looks like your typical top 8. Storm, Gruul, some 3 colored control. Solar flare got first not being a surprise amongst this field with persecute, wrath of god and castigate. Not much to write home about I'm afraid.

Wow, it seems Aggro is making its ultimate come back, who would have thought that Zoo is going to return to the metagame. It goes for Solarflare as well.
#1 - What's the dumbest idea you ever had?

the only things that interest me about these tournies is how well solar flare and zoo did. I've known both to be powerful decks for a while now (they were my two decks of choice pre-fs) but I didn't think they'd be as good post.
Gruul and Dstorm continue to put up results. Dralnu and Angelfire are performing awfully. I think that could have been expected though.
Yeah that fiery justice + kavu predator has to be one of the funniest things I've seen in awhile. Seems the Germans have a really good grip on the aggro format, the inclusion of Tarmoghoyf to our gauntlet's gruul deck has been extremely positive, plus because his ability his static, he's actually much harder to deal with once he hits the board. An example was last night I tried to last gasp him (at the time he was a 3/4 with no instants in the GY), to my surprise I was informed by the people I playtest with that the tarmoghoyf would in fact survive. The sudden death hits the GY and instant pumps him up 1 on each side (I thought the -4/-4 would affect him before the card hit the GY as SD's ability activates while it is in play, I guess I just need to brush up on my rulings).
I'm still shocked at how well that BW rack deck did with only confidants and grunts MD, although with 3 totems they probably swung in for the kill quite often.
What really puzzles me about solar flare is that it seems to suffer the fate of being affected by the large amount of dredge hate that people are including in their SB. Extirpate can remove a vital counter or win condition, withered wretch can just get rid of all of the important cards, jotun grunt makes you put them back on the bottom your library, tormod's crypt just wipes their GY, and leyline doesn't even allow their cards to ever see the GY...So with all of that (and most likely more), how could solar flare still do so well?
I'm not surprised by the lackluster performance of dralnu and angelfire. Angelfire hasn't made top 8 for any substantial tournaments, and dralnu, even with large scores of people playing it, has continued to remain on the outside looking in. Dralnu just seems too slow against gruul and probably zoo as well, and ever since dragonstorm got pact it's become even more resilient to dralnu's load of counters. Angelfire seems like it just cannot handle a decent control matchup. At least that's my guess as to why these two decks have not performed well.
If anyone knows why G0-DRAW was banned I would love it if they would PM me. That guy was pure entertainment 100% of the time. Plus he never publicly responded to his Contraptions "Proof" that never panned out.
Can anyone make a rational explanation WHY 1 BOREAL DRUID ? why not another drake (even if u didnt pay the echo) why not another spectral force? why not another cloack ? why not the damn gaeas anthem ?!
To me makes no sense that druid there anyone else?

What doesnt make sence is why its Mono-Green Aggro when there are Red Card MD.

I dont call it monogreen thats for sure... but makes alot more sense this being a distorted more green version of gruul and tbh seems way more strong then gruul bc takes advantage of groundbreakers\spectral force

Flare only loses the reanimation portion of its gameplan, which is a minor theme. It is first and foremost a soft control deck, using Persecute and Castigate together with standard BW control elements. The addition of blue for card draw makes it a lot more solid than BW lists. If anyone is siding in GY hate for Flare, they're hitting the deck from the wrong angle.
The main reason Angelfire can win against blue based control is Detritivore. Take that out of the equation and it becomes very hard indeed. Dralnu is still a solid deck. However, both Dralnu and Angelfire are very popular decks, so I'd bet that they'd be hated out. In any case, I'm a bit surprised that not even a single Dralnu or Angelfire list is in any top 8 list.
There actually has been a good amount of Angelfire T8'ing in the other regionals I have seen so far (I saw a link last night showing a lot more than what we have reported here so far), and there were a couple Dralnu as well.

Gruul and Dstorm continue to put up results. Dralnu and Angelfire are performing awfully. I think that could have been expected though.
What's not to like? I've been testing my deck against these builds and Tarmogoyf usually comes in at least a 2/3 creature for 2. Often he's 3/4.

Hey I called it, people were like, OLOLOLOOLL n00bz!! Fiery Justice and Kavu Predator FTL!!!11 ROLFOCOPTER!
I say Fiery Justice is a great board wiper, and with Kavu in there, you just negated thier life gain. Its a pretty good synergy there.

It was a Meta-Game deck whos meta game has shifted. I doubt it will place much if at all over this season.

Saffi has 2 purposes. Primarily, against a control deck, it saves your best dude from wrath. Against dredge, you can sac him to eat bridge from below.
