Twilight is a keyword that allows creatures to stick around a little longer than they normally should. It is the result of the Necrosavant Hak'ul's perverse research into the void between life and death; and many of these creations gain some unique power upon their first "death".

Shenanigans!! I hate goblins, but lurve Shenanigans.
With token removers these guys can be pretty good. Clockspinning, Power Conduit, etc. I think that the effects need to be ramped up, and some measure needs to be taken to prevent getting more than two uses from them.
Maybe they come into play with a counter, and when they go to the graveyard with the counter they come back without one. That would stop silly tricks like the ones above.
Hmm, thats a good fix... sort of inverts the flavor of the ability; making it so instead of fading into "The Nether" (or a permanent visit to the graveyard) they are solidifying out of it...
However I'm not sure if theres enough cards out their to be too much of a threat; might be a good switch just to be safe...
(I'll probably have this update up sometime later today)
lol, its a risky card, its pretty hard to control a zombie outbreak, no?
But then u could surprise them with a nice pyroclasm or something... suddenly have an urge to add a card like this...
Engineered EpidemicB
Instant (R)
Choose a creature type. Until end of turn, creatures of the chosen type get -1/-1.
Or maybe to give The Nether "Haste" and "Attacks each turn if able." (to make it feel mindless...)
Actually its nigh-identical to Bogardan Phoenix; hadn't realized that... though it doesn't RFG them. (So they are nice with reanimation, though most of the time I think it would focus on beefier bodies....) Hmm maybe I should make one of these focused around reanimation.

I'm not sure if this is too good as it can permanently reanimate itself; should it only be a 1/1, should it cost BB instead?
I have an other way to to Twilight. "When this creature is put into a graveyard from play put a token copy of it into play." If you want card to do something different the next time around have it say "If this card is a Twilight Token..."
If only they thought of Twilight for the Orzhov. As opposed to haunt, these cards don't remove themself from the game, so you can use them with traditional recursion tricks like Lord of the Undead etc.
Eh, haunt was a cool mechanic... it could have done with a bit more growth though; beyond the whole haunt duplicating a Comes into Play effect and instead maybe growing into enchantments... (a licid type cycle of haunts, perhaps)
But jah, it would've been cool to see a cycle like Twilight, dealing with the bartering of Twilight counters on creatures and allowing your opponents to put Twilight counters on your creatures preemptively but at a price... (to keep with the Orzhov's flavor of being "bankers" of sorts)
Something like
Orzhov Confessor2B
Creature - Zombie Cleric (C)
Twilight (As this permanent is put into a graveyard from play, if it didn't have a Twilight counter on it, return it to play with a Twilight counter on it.) 0: Put a Twilight counter on CARDNAME. Discard a card. Any player may play this ability as long as CARDNAME doesn't have a Twilight counter on it.
2/2 "Your forgiven." -Mer'zi, Orzhov Confessor, last words
A cycle like this could'a been fun for the Orzhov...
Token copies would be viable, I'd just prefer to have the actual creature with a counter on it for memory reasons if nothing else (though a token creature would solve most of the other issues with the mechanic...)
The thing is I'd really like for this to allow CiP and GtoG effects... As by allowing those it opens up grounds for some neat tricks and sources of interaction (hopefully while avoiding sources of abuse)... That fix looks good but I don't want this ability to feel too similar to regeneration.
Jah; its probably safer that way, but then it feels too much like regeneration and it loses a lot of the new ground that the original wording opened up.
This is similar to my Reanimate mechanic (which is based on Bogardan Phoenix):
Reanimate <cost> (You may play this card from your graveyard for its reanimate cost. If you do, it comes into play with a death counter on it. If this creature is put into a graveyard from play and has a death counter on it, remove it from the game.)
Jah, I'm pretty sure this was partially inspired by other mechanics that I'd seen around that played around with bringing creatures back from the grave for one more go; I guess its sort of like regeneration meets Recursion... But it really came about when I was trying to mirror an extremely limited ability I had
come up with on a wider scale.
Whilst i think ur mechanic is good. i would liked o see it renamed something a bit more synergistic. BTW i LOVE ur flavour text sheer brilliance. might i recomend u make a cycle of multicolour creatures with "twilight", all of which share black, ie (UB, WB, GB, RB)
What do you mean by Synergistic? (I admit that theres likely a better name for this kind of effect out there...) Thanks on the flavor text comment, I like to throw some humor or references in there to make the ideas a bit more interesting.
As for the multicolored Twilights, sounds cool; I'll try to brainstorm a few up later today and have them up here or on Mago's.
