The new Game Buyer Magazine is out and on the back is an advertisement for Lorwyn. It says:
Everyone Likes Elves. Or Goblins. Or Merfolk. Or Faeries. Or Treefolk. Or Elementals. Or Kithkin. Or Giants.
Lorwyn.
Elves, goblins, merfolk, and the other powerful tribes of Magic clash in battle throughout the fantasy world of Lorwyn. The highly popular tribal theme has long been a favorite of veteran players and it makes deckbuilding easier for new customers.
As the large set in a new block, Lorwyn offers gamers of all skill levels the chance to play in a traditional setting with all-new mechanics-and the exciting prospect of a new card type: planeswalkers.
As much as I think the info is true anyway... I'm having trouble tracking this down. There was a "Game Buyer" magazine which lasted like 4 issues, and the english posted is pretty sketchy. What language/country is the mag from, is that a translation you posted?
I had a hunch it would be planeswalkers at the beginning, then changed my mind to tribal, then back to planeswalkers again. Luckily I (wisely) refrained from posting much on the subject, or else I would be a magical flip-flop!
I'm very glad it is planeswalkers, though. If it had ben tribal, I would've felt a little cheated, what with it appearing in FS and all.
yeah, but this ad does also have the word "tribal" in it. it talks very specifically about tribes. i'm thinking we might see both Planeswalkers and Tribals in Lorwyn.
If this is confirmed with a scan, then we won't have the "War of the Purples" like we did a year a go, which will be nice. We need peace in a time like this. Why can't we get along?
But the other thing I was thinking of when I read today's Ask Wizards (and I don't know if it's been brought up anywhere since I haven't have the time to search all the other boards) about Mass of Ghouls being in 10th if it was from the future. Here's MaRo's response:
Many temporal historians have attempting to explain this anomaly. Unfortunately, each time they get close, they've fallen victim of a strangely bizarre accident. It's almost as if time itself... Um. Never mind. I guess some questions just aren't meant to be answered. I mean, I have no idea. No idea! Just a mystery I guess."
So, could this mean that both Planswalkers and Tribal are in? hmmm....
EDIT: As I was typing this Riddle said the same thing. But I brought "evidence" from MaRo, if you can call it that.
the exciting prospect of a new card type: planeswalkers.
I think the keyword here is *prospect*. I'm hopeful, but I'm not entirely convinced that this is a confirmation yet. It might depend upon whether this ad was written by WoC or whether this ad was written by the magazine as a "stay tuned for the next issue".
But yeah, if Planeswalkers might be something vaguely similar to an avatar card or maybe something that feels like Form of the Dragon, I'm really psyched.
Game Buyer is a monthly magazine devoted to PC and video games and hardware. It is a heavily redesigned and revamped version of Ultra Game Players, but it only lasted four months before cancellation, unable to find its audience.

So we have a Planeswalker confirmation from a pc-magazine that doesn't excist?
In that case:
*timmies does the 'I told you so'-dance.
Now serious: It's fake, or you just named the wrong magazine. That happens a lot.
Edit: Since it is real, I'm going to post in the "No gobbo's in lorwyn topic."
And I'm glad to see some confirms on Planeswalkers, now I'm waiting for a nice scan of the ad.

So this confirms
a) That Lorwyn is indeed Tribal themed.
b) That planeswalker is a new card type (though there's the prospect
wording to worry about-it's sort of saying "but WotC may have changed their mind" - but this pretty much says they are in)
c) Boggarts are indeed the goblins!?
d) Confirms the tribes we already know and adds in Treefolk and Giants

Well, I still have to bring up. Why is he the only person with an internet connection that likes Magic the Gathering and posting about it to receive this magazine?
If anyone knows why G0-DRAW was banned I would love it if they would PM me. That guy was pure entertainment 100% of the time. Plus he never publicly responded to his Contraptions "Proof" that never panned out.

I have to bring this up. Why are you still questioning him when he brought us Time Spiral and Ravnica spoilers before? Obviously he has ways of obtaining advertisements/magazines before the rest of us do.
Well maybe zeno can answer that...
For now though until we get a scan it's still healthy to keep an open mind. I just like how these people do ads...these are marketing gems! Vague yet specific at the same time:
"They're Coming" and "...prospect of a new card type: Planeswalker." WotC is really going full teaser mode practically saying they are..but they may not be...

And my inevitable facepalm as we finally get confirmation of Planeswalkers and people question a source that has given us information (from the very same magazine, no less) before.
Tribal theme makes me sad, but I guess there was no way it wasn't going to be that type of theme at this point.
However, don't bet on Tribal being in the set too, as if it isn't important enough to discuss in the selling points, then why bother including it? (It just waters down the importance of Planeswalkers and Evoke, as said before)

Well, I still have to bring up. Why is he the only person with an internet connection that likes Magic the Gathering and posting about it to receive this magazine?
Because it's a retailer-only magazine that is not released to the public. The number of posters who have access to such things is far lower than the number who have access to mass-market material like Scrye or InQuest.
For now though until we get a scan it's still healthy to keep an open mind.
No, it's not. It's stubborn and unhelpful. Let's review zenogais' posting history:
Three posts about the Ravnica guild dynamic -- in April, bringing us the first accurate information about the set's theme we received.
One post featuring three real Coldsnap cards from Beckett magazine, later updated with a scan.
A confirmation of the (similarly controversial) Time Spiral ad featuring Akroma, which he also reported as appearing in the same "Game Buyer" magazine that this current ad also appears in.
Did YOU know this magazine, I didn't, so did others. Maybe it's just not that widely known???
Ok, so its so small of a publication that no one but this guy out of the people that come here have heard of it, but Wizards gave them the nod to print the offical coming out of the new card type? You dont find that interesting?
ANd this guy only gave us 1 spoiler and 1 confirmation, I wouldnt really call that a rumor monger.
Plus Im not saying its fake, but I am saying I would need a scan to even consider this.

Give it up. The ad is real.
I never said the ad wasn't real.
And i saw the contents of those links and IT did lead me to trust zeno's credibility.
And keeping an open mind is NEVER unhelpful, stubborn or unhealthy. Not keeping one IS.
geez!

Generally, this is true, and something I try to push on the rumor mill, as people cry fake on EVERY thing that is posted.
But when it is something that is from a magazine, from someone who has posted things from that magazine before, (and met with much similar 'no this cant be true i dont believe it' type responses) keeping an open mind means 'willing to accept the truth of the situation' more than anything else.
And Thrawnkkar, I would expect them to 'officially' spoil a planeswalker card (or the mechanic) at Gencon, as whatever they are doing there is supposedly a big deal. If you want to quibble, WoTC already 'revealed' planeswalkers with that poster, and saying they are in the set doesn't make much more waves than that poster did, outside of this forum.

No, just the small handful of us that have been saying it's both all along.
I do believe we will see Planeswalkers and Tribals, but unless the OP is paraphrase or translation, this particular tidbit smells like scam.

Please don't post in silver.
It is unreadable.
That makes more sense. It sure seemed odd to use the word "customer" in an ad to be seen by...customers.
The above game buyer has nothing to do with the publically avaliable one for PC games.
