It started as another ordinary day on board the Vladivostok. Of course, the concept of ordinarity is as fluid as the ice floes of the Barentz Sea, when you're carrying enough nuclear weapons to make Hiroshima look like a school playground squabble. But this morning began as ordinary as it could be - breakfast was served in the galley, same greasy porridge as always, some of you got sick to your guts, also as always, and lined up at the Doctor's office. The Doctor wouldn't see any of you; that was unusual. You knocked, but there was no reply.
Finally, a sailor gathered the courage to poke his head through the door. There, on a floor littered with medical instruments and covered with blood, lay the lifeless body of Dr. Egor Kaplinsky. Damn, you really liked that old man. He was a good doctor, a good man, and a loyal officer of the Soviet Navy. Clearly, his death came by the hands of Imperialist rebel traitors. And treason must be punished.
The Captain broadcasts a message on the loudspeakers - emergency tribunals will be held each day. The guilty party will be executed, until, hopefully, treason and rebellion will be eradicated.
0. There will be one special rule in effect for this game: a player may only send the mod two PMs per day/night cycle. I reserve the right to ignore extra PMs. This means that if, for example, you have a night action, and exceeded your PM allotment during the day, you'll actually lose the night action. Beware. You may ignore this rule if your role ability specifically allows you to, or if I allow you to do so for any reason.
1. This is a game. As such, it's supposed to be fun for all involved. Do your part to make it happen.
2. No lurking. Two-three days of unjustified inactivity = prod. No response to prod = replacement. If you need to go on vacation or something, let me know.
3. No editing or deleting posts.
4. No posting at night.
5. If you're dead, you're dead. Dead people don't post. They don't even make bah-posts. On the bright side, once you're dead, rule 0 no longer applies, so feel free to complain to me by PM about how you almost had them or whatnot.
6. Don't quote your role PM. Don't try to subtly get around this restriction by unobtrusively posting key parts of your role PM. I worded all PMs in a way that makes this tactic useless anyway.
7. No talking about the game out side the thread, unless your role allows you to, and only within the parameters of your role.
8. Votes and unvotes in bold. Lynching requires regular majority.
9. Nights will be deadlined. No choice = no action.
That's it for the rules. I shall now commence sending the role PMs. Upon receiving your role, you may confirm by PM or in thread. I guess this is one way to check who read the rules and who hasn't...

-note I won't be around for most of this weekend so If the game starts soon, I might not be able to post until late Sunday or possibly Monday.
I don't know if nom is town or scum. But I'd like to point out this type of behavior is his standard modus operandi.
Court Mafia: Day 1, hatch plan to KILL EVERYONE ELSE IN A SINGLE NIGHT, when the plan only allows him to hit 11 random players, ATTEMPTS TO FIRE ANYHOW (Roleblocked).
In other words....Nom is an impulsive player who doesn't think about planning long-term or listening to others. I wouldn't be surprised if he was town. At all.
Yea, I almost did that, too. Lucky I decided to check the thread to read the game flavor before hitting send.
For what its worth, I think that confirmation pms shouldn't be counted for the 2 pm limit. After signing on, I check any unread pms way before coming to the mafia subforum.

The last part of the rules confused the hell out of me...I wasn't sure which was the right way to confirm even after reading the rules like 15 times. I was just gonna wait for someone else to post in thread but took the plunge anyway

@SB: I'm impressed with your ability to random a list in alphabetical order. Although, I find it strangely uncommunistic of you to put the players in such a list instead of all on the same line, all equals.

I'd be up for it if you expanded on what you wanted to soft claim. Although, I'm not too sure what you expect to find through this. I haven't wiki'd this yet, but I didn't think there was any historical reference to base this on.
I wouldn't really be opposed to some sort of soft claim.
In such a format, name claims don't really mean much, but they do give scum the chance to slip up.
Role claims seem a bit premature, but perhaps so far as giving something like our names and our jobs doesn't seem unreasonable; it doesn't seem like it should catch any scum, but it might limit their claim options later on.
(I don't think my previous post was an allusion to anything; if it was, I did so without realizing it.)

Right; I'm basically looking to bring out information that locks people into sticking with a claim from day one. I've played in a number of minis, and I can't tell you how many times I've seen scum skate through to the endgame without ever having to reveal a peep of information. (see Midian and 24 mafia for good examples. Heck even in Code Geass mafia, FB and I were the last two to claim on the penultimate day and I had no clue about the flavor.)
Games like Verona Mafia and Anime Mafia (MTGN) swayed heavily in the town favor as a result of said claims (House claim and Gender claim, respectively). I advocate this position in just about every mini-game because having modded those type of games, I understand how tough it is to fit everything into such a small package.
Furthermore, there has been no night phase, so presumably the scum haven't had any opportunity to communicate and coordinate. Forcing their hand early can only be beneficial. There's nothing the scum fear worse (or at least me when I'm scum) than putting information out without a dead town body for comparison.
I think rank or name is probably a good soft claim. Job may be a bit much to reveal just yet.
