My deepest gratitiude to the powers that bring us this info, it's been a fantastic season for spoilage so far!
So, more cards, this time for the Kithkin clan... I should point out that the name on the Knight is an educated guess based on what I've been told about this card... and what we know about the names... (Thanks to our hard-working number crunchers Kinsbaile Balloonist ![]() ![]() Creature - Kithkin Soldier Flying Whenever Kinsbaile Balloonist attacks, you may have target creature gain flying until end of turn. 2/2 common Limited filler... nothing much to add here except, what's the next card: Knight of Meadowgrain ![]() ![]() Creature - Kithkin knight First strike Lifelink 2/2 Uncommon Now, this is more like it: Granted, Lifelink isn't protection, that's certain, but it is a great ability, especially when it's slapped on an efficiently costed body. Without first strike this would have been quite below the standard for white, but it does have first strike, so I'd expect this to be a strong part of a kithkin deck's early game both in block and should they make and appearance in standard also. Knight of Meadowgrain is, IMO, one of the best uncommon cards for the Kithkin tribe, and coupled with uncommon gems like the Goldmeadow Stalwart, commons like the mighty Oblivion ring, and rares by way of the impressive Thoughweft Trio, builds a strong core of establishing cards to base a deck around. I only hope you're still enjoying the rumors and spoilage from us all here at 'Salvation willing to put in the effort and risk to bring you news of this exciting set. With just over a week to go before the PR, and only around 100 or so cards left to discover, we're well on track for an early 'fully spoiled' completion of this remarkable stand alone expansion. Enjoy, and please discuss.

The baloonist is bad, but the knight is so good that I don't mind.
Efficient and troublesome, it will certainly see play in any kithkin deck and probably in some non-tribal ones too over the next 2 years.

Hooray for the knights of Meadowgrain!
I would like nothing more than to reveal this fellow first turn as I play the kithkin Isamaru. And both being uncommon, they will not be impossoible to come by in either limited play or (obviously) constructed. It seems like Kithkin may in fact be able to mount some decent WW strategy.

I agree about Knight of Meadowgrain: very strong in an aggro deck especially against the mirror. If tribes do become a relevant part fo Standard I expect this one to be fairly prominent. No longer is Kithkin the "worst tribe"...

Balloonist is rather predictable, but could be good - it's a 2/2 flyer for 4, which was rather great at TS drafts...
Knight could be funny, but I wish it had some sort of protection instead of lifelink -.- |

the bolloonist is meh, limited fodder
the knight is great, could team up with the knight of the holy nimbus or whatever it's called. All in all, lifelink it has, protection it doesn't

Nice cards. The baloonist looks quite good in Limited. Granted, Kithkin aren't known for having the fatest creature around, but it's still a good ability. The Knight looks good in limited and constructed. A bit worse than Knight of the Holy Nimbus (which saw play), but with the benefit of being tribal. Probably the best two-drop Kithkin we've seen.
Edit: Forgot about Gaddock in the 2 CC slot. Maybe the Knight it's the second-best two drop, but that's still pretty good. Last edited by Chris with Lime : 09-20-2007 at 07:16 PM. |

Nice, the Knight is exactly the power level I was hoping for. They are definitely very powerful against red decks, providing a way to stem the tides of even the scariest Ball Lightning type creatures, and squeaking out a little life for you in the process.

Really cool cards. The Knight might see some constructed play because with various pump effects (please reveal the 2/2 kithkin "lord" for 2, please
For Aggro, the life gain isn't that important, however... Definitely high pick in limited if you're already in white. The Balloonist is quite cool (in limited!) because if you draft aggro with evasion, you give another of your early threats which can't attack anymore due to blockers evasion every turn. Not a first-pick, but I'd still almost always include it if I draft aggro. |

Two nice cards for limited. The Knights will most certainly see play in constructed, although apparently I'm valuing them less than most people here. He really shines in the mirror match, but doesn't do much versus control. Gaddock Teeg aside, I foresee the Kithkin having a hard time playing against control decks.

I don't think Kithkin was ever the worst tribe-- it's gotta be Giants, with no creature under 1,000,000 mana. Still a lot of cards left to be spoiled though.
I actually kind of like the Balloonist. It's the sort of limited card that makes you think about just how high you want to pick it, and if it belongs in your deck. It could be a strong drop to finish the beats in the air (when you give some fattie flying), or it could be an overcosted card that doesn't do anything but mess up your tempo-- depending on the deck. It's a solid skill-testing card. |

in isolation this is weaker than both Knight of the Holy Nimbus and Silver Knight (and probably on par with White Knight).
However, the relevant creature type never hurts, especially when it lets you bring IsamaruKithkin online. Also, Lorywnn is looking to make the format very creature based. If there's one thing this knight does very well, it's win damage races. Will definitly be used in block, and, based on the strength of other kithkin, most likely in Constructed as well Edit: Accidentally said black Knight... Black Knight is awesome, being way ahead of the curve for it's colour. White Knight is decent... but cruel edict effects can get around it. Red can't really solve silver knight at all Last edited by psymunn : 09-20-2007 at 03:05 PM. |

A friend of mine says that the reason that a lot of creatures in white weenie - and even in boros deck wins - are mainstays is because even though they're small, they're hard to get rid of using common spot removal found in red and black.
That kithkin "lord" better be cheap... lol I'm happy though that Militia's Pride will allow me to keep a few meadowgrain's in my hand and keep my offense going. :P |
