Default [MOR] Scarblade Elite & Negate (Rumored)

Good morning my amigos, good to see some more cool cards coming through in my New years absence.... sweet!

Onto the next beauties:

Spoiler:

Scarblade Elite
bb
Creature - Elf Assassin
Tap, remove an assassin card in your graveyard from the game: Destroy target creature.
"Rejoyce Eyeblight, in your last hours above the earth, those who bury you will finally make you beautiful."
2/2
Rare.

And you had better like this one too, my counterspelling brothers:

Spoiler:

Negate
1u
Instant
Counter target non-creature spell.
"Masters of the arcane savor a delicious irony. Their study of deep and complex arcana leads to such a simple end: the ability to merely say yes or no."
Common.

I'll let the cards speak for themselves... I'm sorry I can't give you numbers on these, the answer phone message I had left them out!

Enjoy.

The Elf Assassin seems cool, but how often you have assassins in your graveyard? :b We had already known Negate, but nice to have it confirmed.

negate- me likes, wow talk about nice granted its not really for this aggro heavy set but amazing in other formats. Will definitely see play in standard.

Many times has a writer in Wizards said so, because of the plain and simple fact that it's too powerful for what it costs. x/3 creatures shouldn't be able to die at instant speed for one mana without a signifigant drawback. (like PTE giving you a land)

I absolutely guarantee that LB will not be printed in M10, and you can quote me on that.

Oh, I'll just remove that Shapeshifter card now and assassinate something.

Love them both.

Well as for the Elf, I really don’t know how well it will work, mainly because it uses Assassins in the graveyard. If it had used elves that would be much better. Still it’s a 2/2 for BB. Assassin deck anyone?

Negate on the other hand is actually the card I’ve been looking for, for my U/B Faerie deck’s sideboard. Another counter to deal with other control decks at the 2cc casting slot is INCREDIBLE for me.

Now if they could just print a really good 1cc or 2cc faerie I’ll be insanely happy.

Soo, sac a garza's assassin and tap this guy to kill two creatures? Kill three if you blocked some x/2... or you could double block with garza and this guy, stack damage (killing an x/4), sac the garza, kill another, tap the scarblade and take another out. I like.

Scarblade really depends on his rarity. As a common he would be pretty sweet, but I guess he will be uncommon. I wonder how many assassins will be in the format, but I like 2/2's for BB anyway. At the very least he will turn your dead Changelings into removal.

At least you can play him after your opponent killed your Lys Alana Scarblade or discard him for the Scarblade.

Well, that confirms negate for all you negative types out there (sorry, I had too)

I'm a big fan of the elite. Requiring the removal of an assassin card means it works well in the same kind of decks that run Haakon, Stromgald Scourge (yes removing it anti-synergistic with him, but I'm saying that they'll probably be in the graveyard to use without him). It could also be very interesting in a more board control oriented version of changeling zoo.

So far I'm liking the cards that operate off of the minor classes in Morningtide (druid, assassin).

Play nameless inversion, kill creature.
Tap assassin, kill creature.

Awesome!

Depends on how many nameless inversions you run.

Seriously, nice card. It's a black bear with repeatable removal. Between this and the Druid lord from the other thread I think we can say for certain that there are minor classes supported in Morningtide in the same way there were minor tribes in Lorowyn.

Also it looks like we may have a minor class rare cycle going on.
Black=This assassin card
Green=The Druid guy
White=The Knight supporter from hunter (who also mentions negate)
Red=? (Maybe Berserkers?)
Blue=? (Really no clue here I'd say shapshifters but that seems lame since they're all changlings anyway, also ill defined as a class)

There are currently eight assassins in T2: Big Game Hunter, Garza's Assassin, Hunter of Eyeblights, Lys Alana Scarblade, Merfolk Assassin, Nekrataal, Nightshade Assassin and Royal Assassin, plus all the Changelings. You might could fill some deck with those.

EDIT: Seven of those are B, too. I sense a theme.

negate (as previously mentioned) seems like an 11E plant. still not bad, as you've now got access to 3 hard counters at the 2CC level.

the assassin is interesting, but not my style.

Blue looks like illusion on first glance. But since there was an elf assassin in Lorwyn, let's take a look at the other classes:

Druids (check).
Advisor (unlikely to impossible).
Knight (check).
Archer (green is already confirmed, so..)
Scout?
Assassin (check).
Cleric (again, white confirmed)

I can't see anything for Red, and there was one scout for blue, and it doesn't fit.
I'd guess it's a cycle, though I can't tell what the other types will be.
